So, as some of you may know I was recently lucky enough to be invited onto the European launch of the new Ford Mustang.
It really did feel like a historical moment, it’s the first time the Mustang has been offered as a model in Europe and therefore it’s the first time us Brits can get it with the steering wheel on the other side! It was great to be part of this huge launch, and even better to be able to drive the new Mustang around some of the most beautiful roads in Europe.
Bavaria is quite the setting, and being able to hit the Mustang’s limiter on the Autobahn was pretty bloody cool. 155mph was achieved with another gear to go, I’d love to see what it could do without the limiter!

I’d be delighted if you popped over to Driving Spirit and checked out what I thought of the car. If not for my ramblings, there’s some pretty lovely pictures to look at.
America, this car is fantastic. Thank you Ford for finally getting it over to us.

I’m pretty sure this is what they do without the limiter

It’s a long time since the Mustang has been offered in Europe but it’s not the first time.

I reached 155mph with another gear to go. There’s a European gentleman’s agreement to install limiters so that cars don’t exceed 155mph here in Europe to basically cheer up safety campaigners and those green people. Not everybody does it though...

This model I think. It was even sold in the UK - they may have done a rhd conversion.

164 is the highest governor setting for the GT in any market. Exceeding that with modifying key pieces would be dangerous.

I’ve a feeling you won’t believe me, but the Mustang has never been offered by Ford in the UK. It’s an entirely new car for us Brits. Like the Vingale luxury name, they’ll be sold through the new flagship ‘Ford Centre’ dealers, which disappointed my local dealer somewhat.
Mustang’s have been imported frequently, and in fact we Brits love it so much it was voted as our favourite ‘classic’ car, but there’s never been a Mustang sold by Ford in the UK, and never in RHD. Ford also told those of us lucky enough to be on the launch that the Mustang had never been offered in Europe.
If you can get Ford to tell you otherwise, you’ll have a story on your hands here in the UK!

There was a road test, but I can’t tell if it was formally imported or not
