So Kung Fury finally hit the intertubes and I have to say that I want a countach now with an integrated Hoff 9000. The heli-countach is pretty sweet as well.

It’s pretty good, but am I the only one slightly disappointed in some of it? Like, the Trailer and the Music Video were better than the actual 30 minute movie to me.

Yeah, slightly. I mean, it’s good but it’s the same joke stretched out; the best of the movies it’s poking fun at are genuinely good movies, in places this feels more like a bunch of comedy sketches that spliced together.

My complaint was that the end was a cliffhanger, but how much can you really expect from a kickstarted short film?

If I remember right, they were wanting to fund a full 1+ hour movie, but only got funded enough to do a half hour film, so my guess is that a considerable portion of it was cut down in content and padded out with effects.
What bothered me most was that about 50% of the 30 min movie was already shot and seen in the trailer, which they made prior to the kickstarter funding.
I was mostly disappointed in Hitler and the lack of an actual fight scene with him. Also, Hackerman’s scenes were pretty bad, although I think they intentionally made his acting seem absolutely horrible because of how bad supporting actors usually were in cheesy 80s movies.
That being said, some moments (the product placement scene, especially) were spot-on perfect. And the cinematography is top notch, which is I think what they were really specializing on.
But don’t get me wrong, it’s still fucking hilarious and fun to watch!

That’s some big trouble from little coin slots.

To everyone complaining, let’s see you do better with a $600,000 budget.

But all the jokes are hilarious though. Fucking Triceracop alone is worth the price of admission. Then you have Barbarianna, Thor’s epic pecs, the entire nazi fight sequence... I didn’t stop laughing at any point in the entire 30 minutes.

Yeah, the individual bits are great (Triceracop is genius and the bickering nazis where the script veered between three languages for no good reason was pretty funny) but it can end up like eating too much candyfloss I guess.
