Extraterrestrials have come, and have decided to peruse Earth’s entertainment, starting with this. After having seen this with them, somehow explain to them that we have not failed as a civilization.

Explain that this a different species that we keep around to remind us to be ever humble should we ever decide to feel superior. Then show them documentaries of our wars and explain to them “This is what we do to each other when we are angry ... imagine what we’ll do to you if you piss us off”. This should remove any desire to invade Earth, but may continue the isolation under which the galactic civilizations have placed us.
