Enjoy this picture of a sweet Model A
Dadlopnik stuff below.
Long story short. My daughter, who is twelve, gave me attitude about shutting off her lights because she had to get out for the bus. She had plenty of time to get out for the bus which I pointed out.
She just ignored me and went out to get wait for the bus. Something snapped in my brain and was filled with rage. I went full on gorilla mode slamming doors and telling her she was disrepectful and going out to the bus stop after turning her lights off to tell her she would have had plenty of time. She wouldn’t even look at me and that just made me more and more angry.
Before anyone calls child protection services I didn’t lay a hand on her.
Did I blow this minor offense way out of the proportion? You bet I did.
Did I scare my daughter? Probably.
Is my wife mad at me? Signs point to yes.

Forgive me if I can’t make the connection but what the fuck does lights have to do with the bus again?

She was about to go out to wait for the bus to school and had left the lights on in her room.

When was a wee tike and I would leave the lights on my dad would unscrew and remove the light bulb. If I slammed a door he would take it off it’s hinges. I plan to employ the same methodology with my son. Nothing worse than having your kid and wife giving you the stink eye. Hope your weekend is better.

Yeah that would’ve been a much better tactic. I’ll try to remember that instead of hulking up.

Funny story, since I was a kid I’ve preferred darkness so I always used to turn lights off. My parents would occasionally get mad at me for that as there would sometimes be people in the room doing things that, I guess, required light.
Just apologize to the Mrs. and daughter, tell them you know you overreacted and made a mistake. All will be fine.

That’s my plan. Maybe I can bribe them with foot rubs.

I leave for work around 5-6am, the laundry room light is left on a lot (cats litter box is in there). I have been tempted to go ape shit on my wife, but she does the laundry, she does all the housework.
I think I will get a motion detector switch as a passive aggressive approach.

Mister: I can so relate. The important part that I learned in my own very similar experiences is that yes, [my lot] were frightened.
The other important thing I learned in my own very similar experiences is that all of that drama is filling a void that already exists.
Good luck. Shoot me a line if you want, oliphant.chuckerbutty@gmail.com

We’re all good. I apologized and rubbed some feet and all is well.

Also works, in my own very similar experience... ;o)
Nice work. We dads can never overestimate the force for good we are — or aren’t — in a family.
