Dat moment when the shipping co. fucks everything up.

Also, first shipment of something I designed!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

They brought a 80,000lb forklift to move our shipping containers that weight less then 10,000lbs …. and apparently our back lot is only 2” asphalt. Yup. You could actually see the ground buckle as it moved. Also they tried to pull it with a F-250 & a Ram 2500 at first. All that did was create some terrible wheel hop.

But thats not my problem so it was a good day for me. Barely a year since graduation and my first design shipped. Not so humble brag moment.

Didn’t forget, just want to make an actual nice post about it. I’ll get to it soon.

That counterweight is huge. I would expect it to be a diesel, I’ve never seen a heavy forklift like that use propane still.

Ehh I haven’t the slightest clue. But there were more propane tanks like that on the trailer it came off of. That counterweight was not needed at all though … I wonder if we’re going to be SOL on fixing the parking lot.

That is the biggest forklift I’ve ever seen.

“Guards!, seize him!”

“So you won’t talk, Eh?”

“Well Mr. Milky. We have ways to make you talk!”

“And they are not pretty”

I actually did a little research because I was curious as to what it was. Congratulations, they look good. Did you design both the vehicle and the box?

Also, PeterBlack is going to be very proud. Where are they planning on sending these things? (If it won’t ruin the surprise)

It’s a good feeling ain’t it, sadly I don’t get to see what I designed after it heads out to the customer.

Side note, You opened my earballs last week, I got an offer on that job and I’m making the call to accept it in just over an hour. Thank you!

It clearly was overkill.

First off your internet skills are on point. There isn’t even any logos in these photos!

But thank you. Yea the vehicle and the box, which is actually the solar charging station for the vehicle. The first ones are going to be demonstrators in China and South America which is why the box is wrapped in another box …. the idea was they would just ship in the containers.

and just because I like this photo, here the container charging a coworkers car.

Asphalt thickness is usually 2” - 4” depending on the road and use. That asphalt looks old as hell anyway.

I feel like the company that brought in the forklift really should’ve known then. But I can't imagine our building is more than 20 years old … which might be old for asphalt, I dunno.

The asphalt should have held up - there’s supposed to be base and sub base under it to make sure of that.

We’re in an industrial park, so I don’t doubt some corners were cut. Either way though the forklift was overkill (counterweight double overkill) and now the lot is fucked up.
