Mom bought a ‘97 GC Orvis Edition as a new vehicle for the shop, it’s got the 5.2 and 130k. Aside from a poopy alternator it’s in good mechanical shape. Unfortunately it has some pretty serious cosmetic issues, up to and including:
A broken bumper,
Hilariously pitted ( but color-keyed!) wheels,
A headliner that sags more than grandma’s tits,
And a crevasse in the driver’s seat.
All in all, it was a pretty good deal, considering it was bought just to use as a spare car. It really only cost my mom $320, because the customer owed her $80 for a job we did on another one of her cars.

As a fly fisher this makes me excited and had no idea it existed.
As a cheap bastard this makes me jealous.
As a human I laugh at the saggy tits joke.

Sounds like a sweet deal. My stepdad has a ‘94 V8 Grand Cherokee with well over 300,000 miles.

you know 505 has a longstanding obsession with owning an Orvis one day. There is always just one too many things wrong with it, or the interior is junk. For this one, who cares - nice price!

Up until the 5.9 Limited came out it was the most expensive GC you could get. It’s mostly just a cosmetic/leather package but it does have tow hooks as well as the more robust “Up-Country” suspension package.

The Orvis edition is pretty sought after. You could easily flip it for a nice profit

Knew somebody who had a slightly newer GC. It was a complete Heep and she scrapped it at 107k I think. Really problematic car.

The later ones suffered badly from the Daimler pillaging, but the early ones are supposedly fantastically good trucks if they’re taken care of. Slightly rust prone, but otherwise a quality product.

Think it was an ‘98 with the Magnum something possibly?

Something like that. I know that one of the V8s was junk but the other was good.

Dibs on any loose change you find in here.

Ok. Whatever I find will cover the cost of mailing whatever I find to you.

Yeah. You're probably right.

Old Mass Plates for the win. If it’s too worn out they replace it with a new white/green one.
