Actually, thats pretty much standard practice on 82-02 F-Bodys. Otherwise you have to drop the rear end, which turns it into an all day project.

Eh, I don’t see a huge issue. I’d just make a nice cover afterwards for that “because racecar” effect.

When I did the one on my friend’s TA I at least cut the flap all the way off and replaced it with a larger panel that is painted matching color, rtv’d down amd has sheetmetal screws that can be removed so next time you can just unscrew it. Dropping the rearend? Screw that!
