It was a blowout.
Still, don’t drive distracted.

I don't know what I hate most about this video. Probably the selfie stick.

Wonder if she hit something to cause the blowout.

I don’t think she had a blowout. I think she ran onto the rumble strip along the side of the road and over corrected/just freaked out.

naaah bro that was just the snare drum.

The actual blowout scene is pretty awesome to watch. They survived so I can say that. Besides the driver sounding like an annoying cliche....
We've all had that girl in our class.

Listening to it again, it does sound like a blowout.

Blown tyres shouldn’t cause a crash. Unless you’re driving like an idiot in some form or another.

At least they were in a Volvo. Even if it was a old crappy S40...

Hey, look on the bright side.
They were all wearing seat belts.

No, just if you’re an ordinary person. Assuming it’s a rear tire, anyway. (or are fronts the more dangerous one?) It takes some skill to bring the car to a stop without losing control, and most people don’t quite have enough.

The driver looks an awful lot like my sister in law. And this is exactly how I imagine she drives.

Definitely a blowout. In this one you can tell he isn’t on the rumble strips.

these are the type of people I don’t want to be friends with.

Did they actually roll over, or is that jus the camera?

“We’re not posting that video.”
Must have had a change of heart.

I'm not sure. I don't think they did, though.

It’s a volvo. Blowout at moderate to high speed + no collisions with other cars + no rollover during the slide into the median = extremely high chance of survival. There was nothing darwin could do here, really.
Call him when a C4 vette missing a muffler street races a fartcan civic with an tack weld engine swap and nawwwz. Then he’s got your back. You gotta give him something to work with if you want results.

Are blowouts so uncommon these days that people have forgotten how to deal with them. It appears he hit the brakes, which caused the vehicle to lose control. Just coast. He had a wide shoulder and plenty of room to run out.

Famous last words to be sure. It does make a good PSA though.

His reaction was great.
“That was awesome. Wooo.”
Not that I think what happened was great, obviously. Just that he handled it well.

I don’t understand why blowouts happen at all anymore. If you replace the tires before they become dangerous, the probability of a blowout is pretty low.

I had it happen more than once in the old Buick Park Avenue I had the “privilege” to call my first car, on these lovely Michigan roads. Really, just don’t panic and only use VERY slight inputs for steering and braking and you’re fine.

I like their reaction better. “Well, that was awesome.” vs. “We are not posting that video!”
