Looking at stupid cheap cars to potentially jump because we need moar JUMPING OF ALL THE THINGZ on here, and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . $350, can probably talk him down to $300 or so, but is it worth it? The truck’s already pretty much destroyed, but the wheels look straightish so I’m wondering what else needs to be done to it to finish it off and if this is too wrecked to bother. For example, how many jumps will it take? How long will it run for with no fluids? Will my local oval that isn’t very big on safety let me run it in one of their series? So many questions need to be answered, but I don’t know if I care enough to buy it and see how much it takes to kill it.

I think a jump car needs to be even cheaper than that. Go all roadkill and just turn up to a scrapyard and get one of the worst things there running.

I don’t know how they do it on roadkill. I don’t think that they really just show up at a junk yard to find something. They have what they’re going to do planned long before shooting an episode. They’re also more mechanically inclined than I am, so this having a title and running is good to me. Stupid cheap cars aren’t as stupid cheap here as they are in the UK because we don’t have the type of inspections you do (or any at all in Florida’s case). Believe it or not, I can probably scrap this for about that price, so I don’t think that I’d be out of all that much even after completely destroying it.

I own a 95 EXT Cab rranger with 400K on the clock (And no check engine light, Like a SIR!)
Depending on the parts, after you have your fun, you can sell the parts. Turbo guys love the Dual plug heads (Hell i’ll be in the market for another head to build up).
By the looks, I think the frame might be ok, They are pretty stout. Talk him down to 250 and have some fun. Hell, Cut it up and make a Neat Prerunnerish truck out of it or a tough truck.
FWiW; The 2.3 will run on no coolant and 1 quart of oil.

Yeah, obviously I don’t know without getting a closer look, the frame looks good in the pics. I didn’t know that the heads were in demand. That’s interesting. Maybe I won’t try to all-out kill it in that case.

the 2.3 is stout, I can’t tell the year but some guys like running the head or just scavenge it for the cam. it is a drop in for older SVo guys and a cheap and easy mod. Also, You can find turbo parts for it cheap, Slap a turbo on it and see how a stock truck can handle boost, (it has around 9:4 compression so it can handle, only issue is fuelling, I do want to truck and see if I can have a stock ranger 2.3 run a decent amount of boost with some mods, but that is after I build up my proper turbo engine)
So, you can try your best to kill it, it will take dropping a 57mm shell onto the block to kill it.
also, For kicks, here are some threads.

needs a baseball bat and a hammer to fix the fender and hood, kinda wonder if the wheels are cocked to hide broken steering/suspension parts, nothing a hundred dollars or two couldn’t fix up enough for proper Yump spec

Honestly given how badly things often go for them I genuinely think they just turn up. They have enough mechanical skill to identify something that will actually run again and pour some cash into it though.
If that’s what scrap is worth it aint too bad. I always forget about how different car values are there.
