Just finished throwing new pads and rotors on the ‘Vette last night. When I was shopping for new rotors (decided to buy new ones rather than taking the gamble of resurfacing my old ones), I came across these sweet drilled rotors on Summit for only a bit more than standard ones costed. Needless to say, I ponied up and got them.
The result? She stops even better now. Like, its awesome. I’ve been so used to my worn-as-hell brakes for a while, so these feel even more stellar than I thought they would. I’m very satisfied.
So what’s next? Well, my 29 year old rear Y-pipe is basically fucked. Like, I don’t want to drive it because I’m afraid it will fall off, since its hanging by a thread. And my original cat isn’t doing so hot either. So, a couple days ago, I just plunked around $450 on a new Borla stainless steel Y-pipe and a new Magnaflow high-flow cat. Those should be coming in sometime this week, and they’ll probably be on the car by Saturday. So stay tuned :D
In the meantime, have a shot of Christine with the garage to herself.

Damn, that’s a big garage. Looks like you could shoehorn three cars into there somehow.
Get some shelving and paint the garage floor and that thing would look awesome.

Lol, its not as big as it looks. But we do have plenty of room to put stuff, even with two cars in there.
I would LOVE to paint the floor. You have no idea, the floor is stupid filthy. But we never really get around to it.

Ah, looks like it’s free of cracks and there doesn’t seem to be that much stuff in there. I’d say that you could probably get hat done after an afternoon’s or so of work.

It is crack-free. By filthy I meant REALLY dusty. There’s no clutter or too many fluid spots, but its really dusty. Would love to just get it done but, alas, we’re always busy.

Pressure washer time!

Nice! I did brakes on my about 5 years ago. Now the car pulls right under mild braking, but straightens out if you stomp on it. I’m thinking I need a brake flush since the fluid is older than I remember. Hoping that fixes it. I’ve already replaced my Y-pipe as well, thing fell off years ago. How much are the cats you’re putting on? Post an exhaust video! I’d love to hear.

Cool! A fluid flush would probably do that some justice, for sure. Yeah, we got under it on Thursday and were like “Holy SHIT”. Its literally hanging by a thread. I’m only replacing the main cat, since the pre-cats actually look pretty decent. With that being said, I’m putting this cat on:

Seemed like the best deal to me, especially considering its stainless steel. And I’ll be sure to make a post! Probably won’t sound too different, since I’ll still have the stock mufflers on there, but I’ll be happy either way.

Nice! I’m curious how yours sounds anyways. I’ve heard a few now, and oddly, none sound anything like mine. Mine has a tone of bass to it but is actually pretty loud. I’ve heard a couple really quiet later C4s as well as some earlier ones that were pretty quiet.

Yeah, I’m hoping it will end up working out pretty well.
I’ll have to shoot a video sometime. Maybe yours has the pre-cats gutted or something? Mines loud-ish on startup, but really isn’t too loud once its warmed up.

YA!!!! C4 all the things. I’ve never played around with an early C4 are there O2 sensors after the cat? I am guessing so, but I don’t no for sure.

Lol, hell yeah!
Nope, there’s no O2 sensor past the cat. I was thinking about just putting a test pipe on besides a new cat because of this, but I wasn’t sure how the car would act, so I just went the safer route.

If it had the Duratec, I’d be more tempted. But I’d much rather put my money towards the ‘Vette.

pretty please?....

That’s kinda why I was asking.
Take that shit to a muffler shop and have them weld in a pipe. The car should run fine, if there’s no sensor after the cat it’s only there for the sniff test.
Assuming you don’t have to pass emissions, I were you I would return the cat, I bet you could get some piping thrown in there for less than $70. Just my .02 though. Have fun with it.

I was thinking about it, but decided against it. I’m sure it would run just fine, but I don’t want to take any chances, since I’m taking it down to Indy at the end of June. I won’t be gaining any HP with no cat there, it would just give me more noise and save money. Which is great, but I just don’t want to take any chances right now.
