I’m not debating whether it’s an awesome movie (it definitely is). But referring to it as “feminist propaganda” is a bad idea and sure to start trouble. My advice would be to delete this post, because bad things (and inevitable mod intervention) will happen if this stays up.

The matronly biker chicks were pretty cool too. But yeah, the whole “feminist propaganda” angle was kind of hilarious, if not sad. Theron’s character made the movie good, instead of JUST a shoot ‘em up. That some people would have rather had a crappy movie than a good movie is really sad.

And since a lot of people seem to be misreading the intent of the post: It goes kind of like “If this is feminist propaganda, I really want more of it,” not “this is feminist propaganda.”

Reddit blew up around the time it came out because apparently some MRA types were calling it feminist propaganda. Which it’s not. It has a female character who is somewhat realistic (as much as any of the movie is), and no big love interest. But an egalitarian might still take issue with the amount of gratuitous skin in the movie (lots of eyecandy). Which just makes for a better movie than “save the damsel” trope.
