My apartment complex has shitty patio walls that were covered by shitty bushes but shitty management had the shitty bushes removed exposing the shitty bushes.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

That’s not what I’m upset about. When the bushes went so did the 6 or so bumble bees that would bounce off you every time you walked outside. They were my buddies. Now they’re gone. So I bought some things, modified the shitty fence (security deposit return? hell be no) and added dirt and colorful things. I don’t know what any of them are. And one of the bee buddies already came back too.

Also fuck History Channel for this

Wow... That looks pretty shitty.

Wait, you want bees to bounce off you?

The bad news is that they all look like annuals, not perennials, so you’ll have to plant new ones next year, probably.

The good news is that it looks rad.

Whoa, that looks really nice!

The wood really compliments the fence-y thing.

It’s a dormant plumeria from Hawaii. My dad some how got one back some decade ago and keeps cutting off the stalks and re-planting them. He’s up to a dozen or so. Pretty when they finally bloom.

But until then... It is dildo plant

Bumblebees are awesome! They always look drunk, and are very rarely aggressive. Plus, they're excellent little pollinators. It's hornets and wasps that can all die in a fire as far as I'm concerned.

Your flower boxes are lovely! Hope more of the little bumblebees come back.

If you want to try to attract local species of butterflies and dragonflies (and honeybees), try making a visit to your local nursery and asking what native plants you guys have that would attract them.

I know right off the bat that various types of milkweed and Turk’s cap flowers do well in many climates and both are insect-friendly. Milkweed grows in shaggy, low bushes and produces wispy light purple flowers. Turk’s cap produces a bit taller bushes that send tall, thin branches straight up and produces red, white, or even pink flowers, based on the variety. The flower petals are tightly wound around each other, like a Turkish turban (hence the name) with a bright yellow stamen sticking up from the middle like a plume.

Anyhoo, thanks for sharing!

Those look like lilies of some sort. I think most lilies are perrenials.

Hover bees are the best bees but bumbles are hilarious creatures in their own right. Good job.
