Thats what this is supposed to be gapped at. There is still wiggle room here btw, its likely gapped at 0.95” or greater. I cant believe that was in my truck. This one was in cylinder 5 I believe, all the plugs had different gaps.

The electrodes are probably worn down with age, I doubt they were installed with that gap.

I know how spark plugs work, Im just amazed they were in there long enough to get that bad before showing symptoms.

Dude, you wrote “This one was in cylinder 5 I believe, all the plugs were gapped differently.” if you know how spark plugs worked enough to be snarky about it you probably should have written something less misleading like “all 6 plugs had different gaps.” as written is looked as if you mean to say that the plugs were gapped (intentionally) differently.

Whoops, well thats not what I meant. I should have said “they all had different gaps”. I guess my wording was a bit funky.
I’m changing it right now

Yeah, I need to change out the plugs in my wife’s Town & Country soon. We acquired it from her parents a few years ago when it had about 130K on the clock. It has about 175k on it now. When we got it, my father in-law said he had all of the maintenance done just a few months prior. I’m hoping that meant the plugs were changed out. If not, there may not be much of a chance of me getting those plugs out after 175K miles of use. Not to mention, I have no idea how I’m getting those plugs in the back of the engine out. I’ve heard several different methods, all sound much harder than it should be just to change out some spark plugs.

They’re supposed to have half an inch of gap!?

According to the ranger forums, yes. It seems to be running better

The headline says .54 which is half an inch... You probably want .054.

Lol, that’s good.

It’s .054 lol, that’s a half of a half an inch of gap. A half inch would be insane.

Yup. I asked the combustion chamber engineer

He was being sarcastic, Denver. You misplaced the decimal in your measurements. Also, holy cow, that is insane. My car was misfiring at only .01 out of spec.

No kidding, no wonder it had a chunky idle and would sometimes not start. Now it drives more like a car. But I have to be careful, I went 55 in a 35 at 3500 rpm in 3rd by accident yesterday. I looked away from the dash for a second and BAM, 55 mph. This new found power is gonna take some getting used to
