Aldi has new shopping cats with, and I kid you not, seatbelts for the foldout kiddie seats. I didn’t know that shopping cart accidents were an issue. The more you know! At least somebody is thinking of the children!

Very common in the U.S....it might be legally required.

Is Aldi the autobahn of grocery stores?

I feel like this is more Swedish than German. Are you losing your way down there?

A seatbelt would be handy, otherwise you’d get a rodeo-like effect with kids thrown on the ground.

This is super common. A lot of shopping car kid “seatbelts” are like the claps that backpacks have with the fork and receiver.

Grocery cart lap belts are next to worthless anyway.

I mean...there’s a smiling kid there, and it’s obviously about friendly things like safety and kid care, right? So...why do I feel like a hellgate will open up and a demon will be summoned if I read this out loud?

Had these in the U.K. for years. There’s the single child trolley, the two child (side by side) trolley and the baby basket ones. I don’t think anyone really uses them though unfortunately.

American Target shopping cart is made of shock-absorbing PVC and has seatbelts for the kids.

*edit*

Just noticed your ergonomic bike-style handles good move Aldi.

I imagine the belts are more to keep the kids from climbing out and falling face first into the ground while dear mommy is fixated on the list of ingredients on the side of that can of spotted dick.

Some of the stores in my area have seat belts for the kids. It’s less to keep them from flying out in a crash, and more to keep them from getting up and causing a fracas.

Man, my Aldi just has the plain old carts. I’m kinda jealous.

I’ve seen child restraints in shopping carts in the US for decades. Is this new in Europe?
