The x1 is barely higher and longer than a Ford Focus hatch.
It’s not a crossover, don’t get fooled by its moniker, it’s awagon .
Also, hydraulic assisted steering. Feels like a PROPER bmw

Rwd turbo wagon for like 34k, one of the best proposition on the market right now.

KDS, will you indulge me in a brief #offtopic?
I’m new here. I learned about Oppo from my brother, an avid, five-year Opponaut. I read your thread with some of the mods regarding Jalo. I’ve never liked that space and I originally confused it with Oppo. I find Oppo a much nicer place to be, the mods here are clever and funny — and kind — and I’ve never made any time for Jalo. The Kujo URL change would have never given me a second thought.
Anyhow, cheers!
O.C.

Isn’t it a rebadged Countryman? Also a Focus-size crosover

240hp with the ZF is making a great job at hiding that.
Go drive one, not on an ice track...

I drove one last week, I wasn’t a fan of it really, felt nothing like dad’s E90.

Nope, it’s a 1er station, and the 1er was 90% an e90

the only time I saw an X1 performance driving was at an ice race so

I’m not against driving x1’s on ice tracks, I’m against you driving one on an ice track

There’s just one problem:
It’s still ugly.

The Saab 900 was also fugly
I think the x1 is beautiful in its ugliness.
Give it 30 years, people will worship it.

I don’t even like Saab haha

The e30 m3 was pretty ugly too.
But it was beautiful in its ugliness.

Wouldn’t that make it a hatchback and not a wagon?
![]() 05/22/2015 at 22:32 |

That’s for the 300hp plus 35i models.
As for the weight, it’s on par with the focus RS and the golfR/audi S3

Whatever floats your boat.
5 doors hatch is fine with me, suv/crossover isn’t.
It’s a car.

Screw the X1, that house behind it looks fantastic!

Thank you, me and Mrs dirty built it from scratch back in 2003.
Well, we contracted it.

I’ve noticed the same thing driving GLA’s around. Drove one today and was the same height as a Crown Vic. Only Germany could send us a hatch back and make the average consumer think they’re getting an SUV.

I’m not a big fan of BMWs in general, but my neighbor has an X1, and it always turns my head. I quite like it.

Could never be. X1 is a longitudinal engine, rear drive platform based on 3 series.

no

Which E90? Because X1 is more like the F30 than E90.

Such ones have hydraulic power steering? My ‘13 sDrive28i has EPS. It's definitely a hatchback and not a wagon.

X1 performance is definitely way better. But suspension and steering feel are terrible.

Bought one for the wife about 3 weeks ago, so awesome. We got the basest model available. No screen at all- nav nor backup camera! But wow, such a solid vehicle. “2.8”. I’ve almost been converted to BMW, as a result. It’s quick and you can sit super low. If only it were stick...
I think it’s an incredible platform. Very efficient on a small footprint. If I got one, I’d put an e60 v10 in it and drop it a few inches. NO STANTS. Then I’d put lasers on it.

I too really like the X1, it’s a rad little wagon. Hints of true BMW come through the current blandness every so often.
![]() 05/22/2015 at 23:34 |

suspension and steering feel are terrible.
Well, that’s probably why.. I was driving a 2.8, and the fact that the brakes were messed up probably didn’t help (excessive shimmy on braking).
The 8 speed also felt weird. It already shifted to the next gear at 1500 RPM
![]() 05/23/2015 at 02:12 |

It’s worse than a crossover. A crossover knows it’s a joke. The X1 is trying to be a crossover & car. Stop trying to make it something it’s not, just make it a comfortable cruiser.
![]() 05/24/2015 at 03:07 |

The x28 is a 2.0 liter turbo that makes 260 lbf ft of torque at 1350 rpm. That shift point is perfectly fine because the engine can make so much torque with extremely minimal turbo lag. BMW has the best tuning for that 8 speed. Drive a Charger or A4 with the same transmission and you definitely feel a huge difference (less response, lazier shifts, jerkier).

you take that back
