BY NOT RETIRING CARS AT 5,000 FUCKING MILES! Massive waste of money. This is just excess spending at this point. These cars aren’t even used much or beaten on. They just sit around airports and rarely hit 60 mph.

I don’t see why a lot of people say “rarely hit over 60mph.” As a good thing. That is terrible. There is a reason taxies from airports do 500k miles with only basic maintence. They only do highway miles. Also going super easy on an engine just leads to excessive carbon build up. More time in open loop because short trips, and oil never warms up (sludge central). Now I’m not saying the opposite end of the spectrum is better but I wouldn’t want one of those 5k cars. As the gov phases out the crown Vic, the ease of mainence will go down. Less spare parts laying around. Although I do think if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. But then again I don’t think it is quite the shocker you may see it as. Just a bit of devils advocate.

It’s a car with 5,000 miles though, 10 years of repairs on a Crown Vic wouldn’t add up to the price of a replacement. That’s a $30,000 new car right there.

Those LT1 Caprices are too cool. I’m really hoping to pick one up in 5-10 years just for the hell of it. I detailed one at work the other day, which was really surprising. Awesome cars.
