Okay so proving my jalop cred once again, I got the fucking !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! fixed - though I still don’t trust it as far as I can throw it. I took a picture of the original sin only. I did it on the street like a boss, and now I can park it and finish fixing all the other bullshit needed to sell it at market value. So, in short, we got lucky. Valve spring broke and it spit a rocker into another rocker - scoring the camshaft up pretty good and tossing the other rocker off into the valvetrain. It being an interference engine, there was high probability it crashed the piston, but it did not. The 3.7 is one of the hugest piles of crap I have ever seen. Period.

Yeah, Jeeps really need the AMC I6 otherwise they’re just Chrysler pieces of shit. A SOHC that made its debut in 2002? Lol, mopar.

My old one was exactly the same - didn’t trust driving it any farther than to the dealer to trade it in.
Good job getting it fixed, but get rid of it ASAP since it is now cursed.

Honestly I think you need to get rid of that thing and find yourself an XJ Cherokee or YJ/TJ Wrangler. There’s at least three of us on here with XJs.

me too. Common problem along with just spitting rockers (they are held in by spring pressure only) and sludging on the 3.7/4.7. Fucking junk

MOPAR caused it. 5.7L HEMI engines from 03-06 had weak valve springs...

No, the rockers are actually bolted in, but the springs shatter.
