Good Morning Oppo
I’m sure none of you noticed, but I stopped posting MR-Tuesday for a while while the MR2 was down. I feared the worst that I had blown the head gasket and I was not ready to undertake that job in front of my apartment on the side of the road. I did a little investigating and discovered the water outlet seal was leaking. I found a similar seal at the parts store for $1.44 (NY 8.75% sales tax included) and trimmed it to fit.
It’s the blue seal in the background. Then I went to open the bleeder valve on the thermostat housing and the plastic broke off. So I had to find another and replaced the thermostat while I was in there. I fired it up and hoped for the best. No leaks now but I think there is still air in the coolant system so I’ll need to look up a better way to bleed it. The idle is low enough that it stalls when it’s fully warmed up. But for now the MR2 is back!
