After I got rid of the TinyTohruTruck due to severe rust and mechanical issues, I have been itching to get another truck. Something that I could carry a 55” plasma in without removing the back seat and bungee cording the doors shut (this actually happened). I needed a truck.

Imagine my delight when, through my contacts, this one came up for sale. It’s a 1996 Ford F150 XL, with the 4.9L inline 6 and an automatic. It has pretty minor rust for a Wisconsin truck, and has 200k miles. I got it for a song, and it’s my new work truck. The plan is to get it a hitch and 4 new tires.

You got it for a song? Name of song?

Congrats! It looks like it’s been well taken care of.

The song:

It’s quite well taken care of. My dad’s done the maintenance work on it for the owner.

Nice! Those 4.9s are pretty much impossible to kill, and so, so easy to work on.

I had a 90 short bed lariat for a while. The twin gas tanks is a hoot but the best feature is the stomper switch for the high beams.

Good deal that you knew the truck.

The back tank is fuckered right now - previous owner borrowed it to his kid, who promptly hit something in the road and scragged the tank.

Yikes. Good thing they share a single toggle functionality so easy enough to avoid using.

Nice find! That’s almost impossibly clean for a Wi rig.

Very nice.

SigOther’s boss gave us a 42 inch Pioneer Kuro plasma - why did I not know about these? Much better picture than the top-of-the-line Sony LCD it replaced. Great for football.

Good lord that thing is beautiful. also, I have these hubcaps. One more question: Is that spare tire mounted to the inside of the bed? I’m looking for a more convenient way to mount mine, If I can get one of those mounts off an F1/2/350 from a junkyard, that would be awesome. If you have those hubcaps we have the same bolt pattern so it should work if I align the mount correctly

The spare is just sitting there. Previous owner said the underside mount is bad. I’ll have to check it out.

I know the final gen F100 had a bed mount, but Im unsure of the bolt pattern. If I find out something along those lines that works do you want me to let you know?
