Shark fishing.

Watch out for hurricanes. I was in Topsail Island in 1996. A week after we left, a hurricane destroyed the house we stayed in.

In 2001(?), we went to OBX. Two weeks after we left, a hurricane destroyed the pier we were fishing off of.

Maybe I’m cursed.

There’s also some rad sand dunes out there.

I saw they do off road tours but it looked like someone drives you around in a jeep. Do you know of any do it yourself style off reading?

I haven’t been in almost 15 years, so I really cannot remember.

Definitely check out Kitty Hawk and Jockey’s Ridge. I’m a big fan of the lighthouses. I personally love the drive on Hwy 12 between Kitty Hawk and Hatteras. The road itself is nothing special, its the views. There are parts where you are basically driving on a sandbar with a highway on it.

Bachelor party weekend

Half day of deep-sea fishing out of Oregon Inlet. Even if you don’t go fishing, you can head down to the Inlet when the boats come in and score some fresh fish for cheap or even free. A lot of times, the charters catch more fish than they want. After the charter takes what they want, the captain and first mate get to pick, and what’s left is for anybody who wants it. They’ll clean it there for you as well (for a fee).

Hang gliding at Kitty Hawk. Near, the site of the Wright Brothers first flight, you can take hang gliding lessons. The Wright Memorial is also pretty good, but maybe not for a bachelor party.

Sail boarding or kiteboarding in one of the sounds behind the Outer Banks.

Drinking and swimming (not recommended at the same time, and it may still be pretty cool there).

Eating. There are some great restaurants down there. But I’d look for the family-owned places rather than the chains. There is, however, a Captain George’s down there. They’ve got an AYCE seafood buffet that is excellent. For about $40/person, all the crab legs and melted butter that you can ingest. I visit Norfolk often, and we always go to CG’s when we visit.

Sounds like a good time. Be safe.

Thanks.

Fishing might be good. Paragliding sounds fun too. Looked expensive.
