Anyway, I just saw this video, featuring a ride-along not in a car, but on a boat.
It is a 1959 South Seas Samoan and it looks spectacular .
So apparently in the late 50s boat makers were following car-styling trends, adding fins, headlights, rooflines and other design elements on these (speed)boats. This stuff looks amazing.
I mean look at this shit!
From my brief googling session I discovered many many different boats, some of which I will share here, and as far as I understand these are mostly fiberglass, and a lot of them seem to have Mercury, Neptune and Chrysler (outboard) engines, which may or may not be linked to their land-boat namesakes. More on the semantics and specifically Cadillac boats

I have this romantic image in my head - boating slowly on a calm sea late in the afternoon, with orange sunshine on your head, a cold cocktail with a cool name in your hand and a nice blanket under your bottom.

I just wanted to share these boats with car people who might not have given any attention to boats before. It worked for me.
