I’d be sure to inquire what makes it a “Mechanics Special” (beyond being a British car), I’d guess it has a lot to do with the why the asking price is low.

So his reply is that the hood has a dent, there are lights that need new connectors, the AC isn’t working, one window does not roll down and the rest of the car is fine. He also says to just make an offer.

Hmm, no A/C in a convertible in Hawaii seems like not the biggest problem, though if you wanted to fix it, it could be expensive. Not sure how much I trust a British car with electrical gremlins though.

Right, the question becomes how well does the convertible top work, and how bad is that dent in the hood. I’m going to go look at it late this afternoon. Grab the vin and run a check on it. I looked up an AC compressor and its $150-400 for one off one part website I checked.
I’m not certain the car has electrical gremlins. He says its missing a connector for lights. I’m not certain what that means. My luck would mean that the turn signal stalk is broken and it needs a new steering column.

So the car runs fine, but it was in a small accident that missed the bumper and hit the grill in the center. It’s not a mechanic special,it’s an autobody special. With a totaled vehicle report for 2014. Though the title does not mention it.

Well, it needs new seat covers. Only about $600 off amazon and ebay.
