Well, that 2004 Z4 I was looking at was sold. The guy took all day before texting me back, but his ad is still up. If anyone would like to troll the guy be my guest.

I still think that miata could be good around 2K and will probably call about it, but these caught my eye:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The 525i is priced so low that if that problem is just a software issue that the $600-800 in license fees isn’t too offputting.

The Z4 is CP for me at $5800, but if he would come down under $5 it might be feasible if I could find a hood. Assuming that it had its 60k service done. I think the $4k area would be my number, its probably too low for the owner though.

From the new parts it looks like they were throwing new stuff at the E39 to fix a problem - a problem you don’t want to get stuck with. I’ve never heard of a car needing a reflash to fix a problem. I’d stay away.

I really like that bimmer but this made me laugh (German reliability and all)

“Need this vehicle gone, I’m done putting anymore funds into this. So please, serious inquiries only. Low ball offers will be ignored.”

That’s one sharp LOOKING 5 series. But looks won’t make the car drive down the road. I hate to say it but you probably have to pass on that one.

See, I figure the person was using that methodology as well, and I was wondering what could be left to fix. It sounds like something that is probably simple at this point that a mechanic might find in a couple minutes. I am telling myself that it would still break even if parted out at any rate.

It feels so wrong though...

Something is obviously wrong. I doubt it’s an ECU issue.

So the Z4 number is disconnected. I guess that answers that one.

It could be a bad computer, I would think there would be a code it is throwing for a mechanic at the very least. I hate unanswered questions, and I always want to solve the problem...even if it isn’t mine.

It runs but lags or stall on initial burst? Probably intake or emissions equipment, or some sensor that needs replacing.

I know it means an in-balance in the fuel/air ratio, as this is a common problem on motorcycles which are running rich. Sometimes this happens with MAF cleaning and the car needs the battery disconnected and reconnected and then the car needs run for 50 miles or so... ummm... it could be that simple. The computer may not have re-learned the new ratio after the MAF cleaning. It’s not road legal so it may be that the guy just hasn’t driven it more than around the block. Oxygen sensors are due to be replaced in 10k as well.
