It’s only taken me a couple of weeks...thought I’d share some of the better shots. I didn’t get to all the more fun spots I’ve found to shoot though because I went with a larger group.
The Lamborghini Super Trofeo race was nice to see!
Almost got run over, and came to the conclusion that while i dont like them in concept, DPs are just so much better in person.
I finally did the Grid Walk!
You always have to get shots at the Corkscrew!
The racing was good in the GTLM, class as always.
But it did seem like there were a lot more yellow flags than the last ALMS race I attended. Some were necessary but others were hard to tell from the track.
That might just be a byproduct of the shorter race though. I do miss the 6 hours into the sunset. I’m glad I got to see that in person at least once.
And some bonus GLI pics. I don’t get to take this out enough and it started to show on Sunday. There is a new rattle/grinding sound in second and third but only when i come off the throttle so I will have to investigate that at some point.

I was really surprised how loud the C7.R was over the C6.R, definitely was not expecting that. It was cool listening to them rumble up the hill through turns 5, 6 and 7, then rumble on down the back side through 8, 9 and 10. And the BMWs and the Porsches more or less screamed through the same parts! TV coverage does not do it justice.

That’s my car! I did a little writeup on it here. Nice pics, glad you caught the racing. I didn’t get to see any but my own, from the pits. Also, as a VW nut myself, I absolutely LOVE your mk1 GLI! Thanks for sharing.

That is really awesome! Here are the full series of shots. We were checking in at PorschePlatz so I didn’t have time to get to shots from other parts of the track but you looked good around turn 5!

That is probably the only part of the track that I have not explored in depth. I’ll have to walk around over there next time.

For my money, Chaparral is the best campground there.

At Watkins Glen you feel that when it’s coming into turn 6 before you see it, AND that’s when I was down near the apex of t7!
