I traded in my red 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R named Carmen, with 125,100mi on the clock, for an equally red 2015 Dodge Dart GT! Its a little bitter sweet to see her go as she was the first car that I had longer than a year (owned for 8yrs) and grew quite attached. We’ve been through a lot together and I’m sure going to miss all the spirited backroad driving we did over the years. I did get complimented by multiple sales people who took a look at the car on how immaculate the interior was for a 12 yr old vehicle. It still hasn’t sunk in that the Dart is actually mine.
Here is a picture of the old girl:
And here is the two of them together.
More pictures to follow :)

Did the previous owner name it or did you?

DICKHOLE PARKING!!!!
JK, really like the Dart, the wheels are nice!

What will you name the Dart? I propose Horace (one of the Dodge brothers). That or Walter (P. Chrysler).

Both cars of yours are still better than this atrocity. Nice choice. Enjoy the Dart and tell others not to touch it.

Nissan Sentra is a Subcompact/Midsize car right? Kinda like the european Sunny/Almera?
Anywho. Congrats mate :)

I dig the Dart. What options does it have?

Haha 3 stars in the moments I opened the thread, I love I bought a thing ’s
Question: I’ve always kinda admired the SER’s and Nissan’s effort to keep em goin (that generation anyhow because it was around/shortly after highschool) . What was it like when you found a spirited road? Living with it?
Best likes after the trade so f far?...besides new car and a warranty

Ill get you the sales manager’s number since he was the one who parked it like that.

I named it after her:

Tech package: HID headlamps, fogs, auto on/off headlamps w/ auto high-beam function, blind spot monitoring, auto windshield wipers, wireless charging pad. Sun & Sound: 8.4 sat nav and sunroof. The only thing it didn’t have, other than some appearance BS, was a donut spare. With the amount of long distance driving I do throughout the year, I’m going to get one this summer.

Thanks! As Jessie Lang said, you know you found the right car when you turn to stare (in a good way) at it as you walk away.

Groovy. Sounds like a sweet ride! And not having a donut is bullshit from the company, in my opinion.

Thanks! and def compact over midsize as the interior was hella tight. And I believe those are the variants. T

I will. I met my mom for dinner after since she had to be there to sign the title of my old car and I about had a heart attack when I saw a Jeep and a Buick Enclave parked on either side when we left

Don’t know yet. I’ll have to give it some time to see if something just comes to me.

US sizes compared to Euro sizes are.. well.. strange :P I drive a Saab 9000 now.. In Europe that’s a midsize to fullsize.. in the US it’d probably be a compact to midsize :P But yeah.. grats mate :)

It was sooooooo much fun to drive the back roads in this car. It handled well for a small car and the stiff suspension helped in that sense. I’m definitely losing the more basic mechanical feel of the car, however I was very careful to find a car that still gave me some feel behind the wheel. And while I still stayed in the compact car segment, the dart has more interior room than my Sentra which is a huge bonus. My car was definitely approaching her last legs as she was going through about a quart of oil very 800-1000 miles and needed 1 or possibly all three O2 sensors (or possibly the catalytic converter) replaced.

TECHNICALLY in the U.S. (As far as EPA is concerned) the 9000 is a “Large Car”
![]() 05/19/2015 at 20:01 |

it is. The sales manager said he could kind of understand in the smaller cars but it just baffles him that they don’t include them in the minivans.

I know, but compared to a Caprice it’s a itty bitty tiny one... the 900 is a bigger car in fact.

Yeah interior space is a super thing and Darts have it. Also great handling I drove one for a lil distance.
I like cars that get any manner of factory sport suspension upgrayddes because you’re not sacrificing efficiency and can enjoy, if at least cope with curvy stuff.
...Mods on the horizon?

Not sure yet. They would be minimal if I did. Usually like my cars stockish

NICE SAAB :D (Even though I have no idea what it’s like, kudos to you for having a 9000)

Hehe, it’s just a cheap car here in Norway :) I got it VERY cheap though, I should’ve paid 15k NOK.. paid 5k NOK.. But a Saab 9000 in Norway is pretty much like a tired worn out Crown Vic (Cop car) In the us :)

Name the Dart Sandiego, because it completes the name (guessing that is the inspiration?).
I like the Dart, but what compelled its selection over the 3, Forte, Elantra, and Focus?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 21:49 |

I didn’t like the infotainment screen in the Mazda and if I was going Mazda I wanted a 6, wanted a manual w/ toys, so that eliminated the Forte and Elantra, and the Focus, the ST was a tad out of my budget and when I drove one, I didn’t like it and rear leg room and trunk space were lacking a bit.

Reasonable and well-said. I love the large screen with the Dart, though IIRC it (and other recent Dodge/Chryslers) require going through the Climate menu to engage the seat and/or steering wheel heaters, instead of a physical button.

Interesting...well, this is what happens when you search ‘saab 9000’ in our area...

That ‘88 does look nice though...

special parking just for yoouuuuuuu

I didn’t do that. That was the sales manager after he drove my car. I feel like parking spaces mean nothing at car dealers. I did however park the Dart in between the lines after the test drive.

When he did that you should have left. Don’t you have standards, man?

Love the Saab 9000. My dad used to race (I mean drive) courtesy cars out to Saab owners so he could bring their car in for a service. Whoever said rentals are the fastest cars hasn’t had a courtesy car. The only faster car in my book was the Saab 900 Turbo but I loved the looks and feel of the 9000.
Well done sir.

Welcome to the club! I've got a 2013 black Rallye with the 2L na. Its got the handling extras and such good looks for a compact. How do you like yours after a month?

I love it. My favorite part is driving through parking garages and listing to the snap/krackle/pop of the exhaust. I’m still getting used to DDing a manual and the clutch is a tad vague at some points but other than that its all good. I just bought the all weather mats and a spare tire kit. Its actually very comfortable for how stiff the suspension is.

Mine isn’t the turbo but it still sounds good as well. I’m considering putting on a new exhaust next summer, still debating it. Mainly for the noise but better air flow as well, it’s a fun little slow car. Mine has the 6speed auto with manual mode so it’s a good DD, wanted a manual but haven’t learned yet plus mom needs to be able to drive it just in case. I love it, hoping the SRT happens as planned and I can trade up in a few years. Ride is surprisingly nice and it still handles worth a damn imo. Been looking for an excuse to road trip it and really see how it fares.
