Kinja'd!!!

This Sunday was the absolutely glorious Japanese Car Cruise-In at the Petersen Automotive Museum. Not only were there some amazing cars, but there were lots of good friends, including a TON of our SoCal Z club (Fairlady Generations), so we went for a photoshoot afterwards too. It was an amazing day, and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

Kinja'd!!!

Sage Auto Group was out there with quite a few of their awesome cars, including this Roadster and S30, both of which were absolutely mint.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Here’s some of our Fairlady club. The Roadster has an SR20VE. More on that later.

Kinja'd!!!

I wasn’t sure at first, but keeping the stock wheels really gives this car the OEM+ style. The front bumper is the ‘99+ J Spec bumper.

Kinja'd!!!

Then we have Arnel’s slicktop Z32. This is one of the cleanest Z32s I’ve ever seen. The mods in this picture are: ‘99 headlights, J spec ‘99+ front bumper, front lip, hood, Work Meisters, carbon mirrors, black roof wrap.....It’s well done.

Kinja'd!!!

Love the J spec tails too. His car always looks fantastic.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

A ton of Z’s were out representing.

Kinja'd!!!

MAZDA COSMO!!! Luce behind it too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Quite a clean interior too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Here’s the engine bay of the Roadster. SR20VE. Those headers are just stunning (Equal length too).

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Beautiful copper S30 2+2.

Kinja'd!!!

Incredibly clean CRX Si!!! It looked 100% stock too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

A friend’s 1UZ swapped Celica.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This has one of the cleanest engine bays of any swapped car I’ve ever seen.

Kinja'd!!!

Rick’s S12 is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen. He loves that thing to death.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Is that Matt Farah’s million mile Lexus?
This is Matt Farah’s million mile Lexus!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

The other Lexus was....a dash nicer.

Kinja'd!!!

Two Nismos, a GTR and a 370Z

Kinja'd!!!

Mike Sage’s award-winning Z31 Shiro was out too.

Kinja'd!!!

A few nice, white Nissans

Kinja'd!!!

This Z32 is the last US market car ever imported, and has under 500 miles on it. TT 5-speed.

Kinja'd!!!

The Scion Tuner Challenge winner FRS was out too. The owner was a super nice, down to earth guy.

Kinja'd!!!

There were a decent amount of Miatas out too.

Kinja'd!!!

This included the 700,000th Miata ever made (A Mazdaspeed NB)

Kinja'd!!!

Aaaaaand the 14th NA made.

Kinja'd!!!

Next to the Miatas was a Luce, supposedly 1/2 in the US. It happens to be FWD too (Fun fact). FWD rotary is an unusual combination.

Kinja'd!!!

Opponauts Bird and Ferrero1911 brought out their Soarer Aerocabin too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This WRX had a full carbon front clip. Kind of unusual, but pretty cool.

Kinja'd!!!

When I took these pictures, I didn’t realize this FXT belongs to a friend of mine! He had the light green FXT that was out at our Oppositelock LA meetup at Griffith Park before.

Kinja'd!!!

The mod list is impressive, to say the least.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Speaking of well built....this Civic was gorgeous.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

There were a ton of Skylines out representing. Both the R32 and R33 have CA plates (The R33 belongs to a friend of mine, and is a Motorex car. Not sure about the R32)

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Someone else brought out an R34 GTR too. It was soooooo clean, and sounded mostly stock.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Good plates too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Box flares on a 510. Yessssss. Sounded like it may have had an SR20 when it was leaving too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Is that a modified Prius? Why yes, yes it is.

Kinja'd!!!

This MR2 had one of the cleanest exteriors I’ve seen on an SW20, despite having over 200k miles on the clock.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

VanKulture representing!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

RB25 in an S30. This was a fantastically clean car.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Infiniti M30 coupe converted to look like a Nissan Leopard. I can dig it.

Kinja'd!!!

Where else but CA will you see 3 Hakos parked right next to each other?

Kinja'd!!!

This one was the only sedan present. Sweet.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Another friend’s R32 GTR. The grey one belongs to Sean Morris.

Kinja'd!!!

JDM only Datsun 510 (Nissan Bluebird) coupe (the US only got the 2 door sedan).

Kinja'd!!!

Frozen themed G35. 12 year old approved.

Kinja'd!!!

Mean looking S30 with a VG30DETT swap. Quite the monster, so I hear.

Kinja'd!!!

RHD AE86 Levin, or so I’m told. I had no idea of the difference between Levin and Trueno before a friend explained it to me.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Another (LHD) 86.

Kinja'd!!!

A CA certified Toyota Soarer. It was for sale. Last time it was listed, it was around $20k.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

A trio of very nicely built Miatas.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This one was featured in an auto magazine within the last year (I can’t remember which one, maybe Car and Driver?)

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Such a nicely built car.

Kinja'd!!!

And on the Skyline note.....

Kinja'd!!!

Shot from next to another R32 GTR.

Kinja'd!!!

Ferrari Speedlines on an R32 GTR? Okay! Maybe Rusto can grab these....

Kinja'd!!!

NA2 NSXs are the best NSXs.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

No idea what this was. Other than amazing.

Kinja'd!!!

Now for some leaving Skylines!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Ungfh.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

After the show, our Z group headed out to do a little photoshoot of our own.

Kinja'd!!!

Michael’s Roadster was looking amazing, even in it’s damaged state.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Cristina’s S30 2+2. She has some amazing plans for this thing. The Durango in the back may or may not be a police car.

Kinja'd!!!

All of us just chilling.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

We finally got lined up to do a full club shot.

Kinja'd!!!

The shooting in progress. That may or may not be an Opponaut on the right...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

My Z32 in the center. Outclassed.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Love this shot. So much. The reflection with the skyline just works. If only the power poles weren’t there...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Goodbye Oppo. Go out and take some photos, see some cars, hang out with some friends, have a good time.

I’m super jealous how awesome your car scene is. Soooo many awesome cars. Quit playing into your stereotype, LA!

Also: “If only the power poles weren’t there...”

I don’t know how many times powelines ruin my shots, but it has been too many. I hate them. We need to run them all underground... So much cleaner.

So much eye candy... So many cool cars.

But I have to say... an A60 Celica GT-S with a 1UZ-FE V8 swap is amazing...

Like someone swapping a 4-valve Cobra or Lincoln engine into a 4-cylinder Fox Mustang... and it’s IRS unit, too, since GT-S Celicas were IRS upgraded from the factory with the same parts shared with the A60 Supra I6.

That would be a sweet little car to bomb around in.

I went to the Petersen auto museum once, and didn’t really like it...especially the fact they wouldn’t let pictures be taken in the vault and not into the dusty and decrepit area that I saw a old Defender and some fox bodies. I didn’t like the tour. But I did enjoy being next to the lovely cars I learned about on Jalopnik and various other places. I enjoyed one bit, when meandering through the parking lot and I saw a Evo 4/5/or 6. First time. It was my early evo cherry. This meet gives me more hope for this museum.
