Dads a3 tdi just threw its CEL for the third time we have owned it (had it brand new, it has 100k miles on it now) first 2 times were for the EGR valv. If its the same thing again, im going to try and convince him to do the exhaust and get rid of it (and get more turbo noises and a tune)
Drivability isnt affected at al. Same power same evereverything. Just cruising at 70mph. Will update with what happens

Hey PB, off topic, but I am trying to put together a post on a square piston motorcycle engine that (I think, Honda, made back in the 60’s or 70’s. do you have any knowledge of this to pass on?

Is it for one of the 2 exhaust pressure sensors, G450 or G451? They watch backpressure ahead of the DPF, that’s how it knows when it’s becoming sooted & to run regen. The sensors fail all the time.

Nice. If it’s one of the sensors, it’s a less than $200 fix.

This was back a long time ago. I remember reading about it in a Popular Mechanics or Cycle World type of magazine when I was a youngster. It was an experimental type thing and was never put into production. as far as I know. Hard to find info on it today.
