Spent my long weekend insulating the one wall in my garage that will be getting my work bench. Ended up using R-14 and OSB.
Taping is a lot of work but happy with the results. Can’t wait to get the rest of it done another weekend!

That is THE way to do it!! The OSB makes hanging tin signs, car grilles, & wall off shame parts much easier. Now find an 80’s SI swimsuit magazine and staple some pages up!

Before you clutter it up, paint the walls white! It is amazing how much brighter it is and easier to see what you’re working on with white walls.

Nice. My garage is way smaller than yours and I really want to insulate it, but my wife doesn’t see the point. I’ve tried to explain to her the car will be warmer in the winter if the garage is insulated but she doesn’t seem to believe that’s the case. Alas, what can you do?

looks good!

Send her away on a nice spa day and insulate quick!

Will likely add some over where the work bench will be, Have some really bright CFL’s in there now!

Ya and the OSB was cheaper than drywall! I still have all my old posters from when I was a kid. Hello Kelly Kapowski and Diablo’s!

Thanks!

Ya I thought about this but I like the OSB look. There are a couple windows in there that let a lot of light in. Also will likely do a glossy clear coat that might help with the light reflection. The roof will be white though!

Nice! Did the insulation not have a vapor barrier (paper backing) on it? Shouldn’t make much difference since you seem to have really sealed it up, though. Looks great!

No the insulation didn’t have the backing. From what I read you still need the plastic wrap too so I didn’t see a point of it.

I actually don't have much to insulate to be honest with you. Just one exterior wall and the garage door. For that little amount I'd probably just spray foam it and call it a day. Maybe I'll just do it one day and not even tell her. See how long it takes her to realize.

Paint to two tone with a red stripe down the middle! And search CL religiously for free and/or cheap cabinets. I got 2 free metal lockers, a metal tanker desk, a butcher block workbench, a large craftsman tool chest and quite a few decent toolstools (even some snap on! Mostly good US built tools) for under $200.

I do try to keep an eye on the local Kijiji but not much has been posted. Maybe now that the weather has gotten better it will pick up!
Good working finding all that stuff!

Hopefully, it’s hard for me right now as I moved to Spain, I uh... I don’t speak Spanish... Mistakes were made. That, and Google Translate might as well be a hotkey. I have Milanuncios as my craigslist right now.

Well it seems they are a little more willing to give stuff away, even if it is in some sort of Spanish.
