Last week, we replaced the torn factory leather in this truck:

so the dealer could sell it on their used lot.

Now, every F250 I see with the two-tone paint makes me think “I wouldn’t mind driving that...

This called, “having good taste.” You’ll get used to it.

That looks pretty decent, how much are they asking for it

It’s an 07 with 115k miles. They were asking $21k. 6.0 Powerstroke, FX4 Lariat. It was a little rough, to be honest. Torn leather, scratches and dings, a few rust bubbles on the roof and bed, and some filthy carpet... But solid with the recalls completed. I could see it at $16k or so but 21 was a bit much.

Oh yeah. They had two people come by the shop to look at it in the 3 days it was here.

The 6.0 is a pretty good engine, once you sort out the EGR and head stud problems. They drive pretty well and have plenty of power. We have a 2000 with a 7.3 and it feels (and sounds) downright agricultural by comparison. I love the Super Duty ride, too. Firm, but very secure. The interiors in these seem to hold up pretty well, too. Ours is squeak and rattle free at about 250,000 miles. The rust, on the other hand, is taking it’s toll...

I guess it’s a side effect of the smell of lilac, honeysuckle, and horseshit every morning.

How the shit do you get rust bubbles on the roof?

It looked like there was a roof rack on there in the past. In the gutter along the sides of the roof it had some bubbling and a bunch of scratches. No holes, though. There was no rust underneath, either. Just in the bed - no liner but it looked like there was something mounted in there before.

Didn’t think of a roof rack, that makes sense as far as rust. It does open the question of why put a roof rack on a truck though. Since you say there was something mounted in the back it was probably a fifth wheel hitch, so the bed would have been useless for storage. But they would have been towing a fifth wheel which once again leads me to ask why a roof rack. Though since they were towing a fifth wheel there is a chance that wasn't a roof rack but a wind deflector for the trailer. Don't mind me thinking out loud.
