Yes, I am that guy that is always watching things way after everyone else has seen them and the social discussion has moved on.

Well now I want to discuss it!!

Not really, but wow, what a great movie. On movies like this (historical fiction type things), I generally spend my time watching the movie and researching things on the internet while watching. I was looking things up to see what was true, what was close to true, and what was Hollywood.

And it is amazing how the story truly played out. If I did not know some of the history all ready, I would have thought a lot of that was written, like Lauda’s crash. When it happened, my wife turned to me and said “did it really happen like that?”

Anyway, great movie. One that I would not mind watching again at some point. If you haven’t seen it (which I’m sure most of you on here have), watch it. Or watch it again if you have seen it.

I bought a copy of Rush nearly a year ago. I still haven’t watched it. I am dumb.

Caught it not too long ago. Absolutely loved it. Neither g/f nor i closely follow racing, but the story telling was great and definitely made me want to find a biography about Lauda. Two thumbs up.

Haha I do the exact same thing while watching movies based off historical events.

Rush was a great movie. It actually got my wife slightly more interested in racing. We need more car movies like this and less car movies like Fast and Furious.

I still haven’t watched it (it’s one of those things where you can only see it the first time once, and I’m trying to preserve that until the right moment). But if you want more you should read Hunt’s biography , it’s really fascinating.

Also worth a read is Jackie Stewart’s memoirs.

Give a watch to 1976: Hunt vs. Lauda and F1.

I know they Hollywood-ed it up a bit, but I think Ron Howard actually did a good job of translating F1 of the era into layman's terms and making it entertaining to non-F1 fans in Rush.

I disagree. One of my main issues with the F&F franchise is that it seems to make Hollywood decide not to make any good car movies, because the dumb ones are making plenty of money. The last 15 years have been a barren wasteland as far as car movies with any amount of substance.

That is pretty much for any kind of movie though.

And really, only the first few F&F movies were about cars. After that, they just got ridiculous.

Not really. We’ve had plenty of good and bad super hero movies, action movies, comedies, etc. But there has been a ridiculous dearth of good car movies.

I’m a bit of Racing History nut, so watched it as soon as it came out here in Brazil. Fantastic movie, watched it a couple more times on TV since.
