After much debate, and watching many youtube videos, my wife and I opted for seats on the front stretch. We should be able to see the cars come out of Parobolica and hopefully catch a glimpse of the the first chicane. We are in a prime spot for getting onto the track for the podium ceremonies. Wooo!

I’ve been siting here staring at the suspension on Garner’s car (not sure which it is). It’s a fantastic photo.
Trip sounds awesome. I’m jealous. Have fun!

CONGRATULATIONS! One of the most storied tracks on the F1 circuit! How LUCKY you are! Just a word of caution: MONZA on a race day is a TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE MESS to move about. When asking Jody Scheckter, “Hey Jody, what’s the BEST way to get in here tomorrow? HELICOPTER” was his frank but correct answer. Also, if you can, arrive Milano as early as possible be good for getting around. Wednesday would be ideal. Then try to hook up with some team guys to get you behind the scene. The Monza Park is quite lovely, so walk around to see the old track. Then arrive to the event days as early as you can possibly can get away with. Also, plan on staying way after the race ends as traffic is a TOTAL HORROR STORY to get out or to go anywhere, especially if you have to be somewhere important, like to catch a flight or a train. The atmosphere is PRETTY INCREDIBLE, though. If you have some days to spend afterwards, go down to the coast. Santa Margherita, near Rapallo is wonderful. Don’t forget to visit Portofino at the end of the Peninsula. An INCREDIBLY lovely, romantic place. Especially Hotel Splendido above the harbour. Just a dinner there is just MAGICAL! Your wife will LOVE you for it! E N J O Y !!!

I love that you can see the grime on it. The benefit of using real cars as opposed to CGI.
It should be fun. With Bernie putting the squeeze on the track it seemed like a good time to go. Our seats aren’t top dollar (euro?), but I am hoping they are ok.

Thanks for the notes. Our plan is to get a place in Monza if possible. If not, then we will stay in Milan and take the train up. I’ve done some reading on that. I’ve also seen that the place is nuts on race weekend. Our plan is to get to our lodging on Thursday and leave on Monday. We are then meeting our in-laws in Nice after the race, so your suggestions about Santa Santa Margherita are a possibility.

My pleasure! Good plan, being near. If you miss the wonderful peninsula going into the Med from Rapallo, not to worry. It’s in the opposite direction from Genova if you heading to Nice anyway. But, if you find time, it’s well worth it. My fav stop on the Italian coast. Heading West, San Remo is also lovely, but in a different way. Actually, if you are driving, get off the Autostrada at San Remo, drive through the beautiful waterfont and continue on the ocean side to Monte Carlo. Pretty spectacular vistas there, as you can imagine... Then, drive the F1 track at MC before either returning to the Autoroute to get to Nice, if you need to be there faster. However, trust you would have time to take the Corniche and hug the mountain on the ocean side through Villefranche sur Mer and arrive Old Nice, the more picturesque part, from the East. Beaches on Promenade de Anglais are stony, rocky ones. Should you desire sand, one of the most pleasant beaches is at St.Tropez. Lovely place with yachts and superb restaurants. Enjoy the French Riviera! Oh, don’t forget to take your family to Hotel de Paris in Monaco, preferably Saturday for a 9-9:30PM seating in their spectacular top floor restaurant. When the weather is good, they OPEN the SLIDING ROOF and since FIREWORKS come on either at 10 or 10:30, have a Champagne ready to thank everyone for coming. You’ll be a HERO, no doubt!

That sounds like a fantastic plan.

I lived in Como in 2013 and went to the race, it’s only about 25 minutes on the same line from Milan, going the opposite direction. It’s way less congested, and Como is a stunningly beautiful city as well.

Very good to know. Been looking at AirBnB for places.

Hello, just wanted to give you an update on our trip. We ended up renting an apartment in Monza via AirBnB for a reasonable rate. Looks like about a 45 minute walk to the track, so not too bad and we will be miles ahead of those driving in on Saturday and Sunday. We are still trying to figure out our plan for the rest of the trip. My father in law has limited mobility, so I have to account for that.

EXCELLENT! Walk to the track Saturday ought give you fairly realistic preview as to what to expect Sunday. Than you can adjust your Sunday departure to the track accordingly. Have a great stay in Monza, a fabulous time at the race and memorable journey afterwards! ENJOY!
