Meet the Challenger MT700E.
Yes, it’s a tracked tractor. It has a 28 valve straight 7 cylinder engine, because why not, it’s road legal and despite the skid steer it has a steering wheel.

Challenger was originally developed by the company that made tracked machinery popular: Cat.

“Well, we know we cant fit a straight 8 in the engine bay. A straight 6 is too small, so I guess straight 7 it is.”

They (Finnish company Sisu, owned by Agco) had a six but they wanted a bit more oomph so they lengthened the block and stuck a seventh in the middle. It’s thought to be the only seven used in land vehicles.

That uses a Finnish made engine and couple of my friends were designing that engine.
The company that built the engine has a problem because their cylinder boring machine has a fixed cylinder spacing and the displacement of single cylinder has been maxed out. They still needed more power and the easiest solution was to add one cylinder more.
The crankshaft’s torsional vibration was causing them problems and the damper is really huge. It has one cylinder head from 4 cylinder engine and one from 3 (or 6) cylinder engine. Sadly they aren’t willing to add one cylinder more...
