Sunday, no football - do you want to play a game? My favorite - go to your local craigslist, search all cars for the phrase “ran when parked,” and share what you find. You can also NP or CP it - for me, this Firebird is CP. They should be glad if someone doesn’t charge them to tow it away.

You could probably part that thing out for three or four times the cost.

Not sure that Jag is special enough to command a price, much less restore. I’d rather have something like Inspector Morse’s car (with wire wheels, natch).

For some reason one of the driver’s ed cars we had was a ‘76 Grand Am with the 455. Another was a Buick Apollo. Had the Grand Am on the highway once - asked the instructor if I could punch it just for fun. He positioned his foot over the shotgun brake and winked. Slammed the two kids in the back into their seats. Speed limit was 55 back then, and the car shot to 75 in ... 2 seconds? Then I slowed down and practiced my signaling for a lane change.

“ ... not a shinny new sports car.”

I’ll say.

Don’t know if these will appreciate, don’t know how it drives. And an AMC engine. Still, 6 grand for something that could be a conversation started might not be crazy. Still, you’d be facing a serious restoration.

You don’t get everyday cars with that type of engine mismatch (one in our favor anyway.) The Grand Prix had what was called a “Quadra Jet” carb. I had the feeling if you had your head over the carb with all the butterflies open you might lose ideas.

Of course, in those days, gas was around $2.25 a gallon, and you could blast around all day for change. And yeah - the kickdown on that thing was awesome. My dad always got the smallest V8 on his Impalas - and no A/C in DC, the cheapskate - so I’d never felt anything like it. He started me driving at 14 for some reason, although in MD or DC you couldn’t get your learners until 3 months before you turned 16. That Grand Am opened my eyes.

That phrase turned up nothing in Honolulu. And one car turned up without the quotations. And it was because this sentence was there,”A trucks tire ran into the car when it was parked...”

There are a million of these cars around here though. They probably just use bad grammar in the ad.

Guessing old cars in Hawaii are in pretty good shape.
