Why would anyone spend 65k+ on an ats v coupe, when they could get the new camaro ss for almost 30k less, which shares the same engine and platform?

Interior, refinement, looks, space, visibility, don’t want to grow a mullet etc.

Different engine, the ats-v has a TT V6.

But why would people spend 45k on a tarted up golf? Luxury

I know, but is all that really worth 30 thousand dollars?

Oops, forgot the ats v had the v6. But the horsepower and torque numbers are very similar.

It can be for some people. The fact that the Corvette exists doesn’t stop people buying exotics for 2 or 3 times the price.

Value is relative.

First up, you’re comparing the numbers wrong.

A loaded camaro ss is more like $45k. The ATS-V comes with a lot of those options standard. So its more like a 10 or 15k difference.

Second, there’s the cadillac experience. You get free maintenance. Free loaner cars. A year of Onstar. Free roadside assistance.

Third, like he said, the interior refinement and badge really is worth something.

I just bought an ATS 2.0T after test driving the mustang EcoBoost. The mustang wold have been about $10k lower msrp. But with discounts and a favorable lease residual, I’m getting the caddy for about 50 bucks more a month than I would have paid to lease the mustang. Camaro has similar pricing. Yeah, I’ll add 50 bucks to drive a caddy instead any day.

why buy a Camaro V8 , when you can buy the Chevy SS.

Because when the customers walk into the dealership they thought they were Malibus.

If they brought the Challenger over in RHD plus actually sold the Camaro as RHD whhat car do you reckon would do the best out of the those two and the new Mustang in the UK.

Just from what I’ve read I’d go Mustang. Although that’s mostly based on the fact I think the Mustang looks the best.

Unless you have some info that I don’t, the ATS-V and Camaro do not share engines.

But to answer your question: for the same reason people still buy M3s/M4s over Mustangs.

You should test drive them and find out.

They should really bring the other two across since there is clearly a market given how fast the new Mustang sold out also rather pleasingly 70% of them were V8s and a 100% were manuals for UK preorders apparently.

It has a usable back seat. The v6 makes it a new Grand National of sorts. Would you rather have a 1987 Camero or a 1987 GN? Granted they were about the same price back then but look at the price difference today.

Yeah especially since modern v8s are getting close to acceptable fuel consumption wise. I hope UK depreciation means some day I can get hold of a Mustang as a second car.

The engines are nowhere near similar. The TT 3.6 shares almost no parts with its NA cousin.

Remember, cars are a visceral thing for folks. True, the Camaro may be a better deal, but the Caddy might be what scratches somebody's itch...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

“Useable backseat”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

holy shit, that’s a GREAT one.

Don’t take this as shit talk, I shouldn’t have to back up my Cadillac love, but dude....no. Just no. “Useable backseat” and “ATS” are not 2 things that go together.

Is this a serious question? Refinement, interior, luxury. Engine and platform are not the best argument. You still have to put something on top of it.

I’ll admit that I assumed this has a usable backseat having never seen the back seat in person. Surly it is more usable than the Camaro’s though right? What’s the point of 4 doors with a small back seat? What’s the point of a Cadilac with a small back seat? I don’t feel good.

Im just glad we have the option. Some car companies only give you one choice when it comes to performance.

I would imagine that by the time you outfit the SS with Brembos, MRC, and the upgraded interior, it will be closer to 45k. And I’m sure even then the refinement won’t be the same.

The real question is: why would anyone spend $65k on a car with this gauge cluster?
