Got tons of swag, free catered lunch, took hot laps in a Z/28, and the whole event was very well organized. Props to GM for invited us unwashed ‘Maro masses crash the party. AMA until I have to leave for another party!

Sadly we didn’t see a single mullet there.

Does it look the same, better or worse in person compared to in pictures? Is the interior better than the new Mustang? Would you buy one?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:16 |

Could it be that they didn’t invite any third gen owners?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:17 |

On a scale of 1 to BWAAAH, how many vtaks does the new Camarostang have?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:17 |

Did they show a new Camaro there?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:17 |

Were I you, I would have demanded a refund.

They keep calling it #Camarosix. Is that to let the hipsters know its a 6cylinder they can use to save money for their beards?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:19 |

THREE, in fact!

So no handbrake turns?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:21 |

Better in person, though I’m still not a fan of the ass end. Interior probably comes down to personal taste, either can seem “tacky.” I bought my 5th Gen for a reason ;)

How could you tell?
(ducks)

I think it’s to remind us that THIS IS ONLY THE SIXTH TIME EVER THAT WE’VE INTRODUCED AN ALL NEW CAMARO!!
Pretty sure that was said more than once.

The front grillz and badges, u filthy casual!

Honestly, I think it looks better. I’m a a fan of the front of the Camaro, whereas I prefer the rear of the GT. The interior is kind of ho hum, I really don’t the vents placed so low, i just imagine the M&M’s scene from Tommy Boy happening.... Also, that’s where the cellphone/junk tray is in the current car. I carry two phones and various other stuff and I like to have some places to put them in the car. the interior seems easily as cramped as the existing car, but then again, these are relatively small cars to begin with, and I’m a fairly big guy.
Would I buy one? Maybe. I wouldn’t buy an existing Camaro, despite being both huge, and tiny on the inside, it drives like a nimble car but feels massive. I have some long term durability concerns about the Alpha platform with that much torque and sticky tires as well. I did get to test drive an SS Sedan on the Belle Isle GP track, for my 40k I’d take the SS, but perhaps I’m slightly more practical than the average Camaro buyer and would settle for a bit of ugly for some practicality. Would I buy one over a Mustang? Definitely! if only because the Ford Modular V8 is hot garbage.

Was this #CamaroSix in reference to the 6th generation or 2016? Cause it doesn't scream judge transformation.

How do you demand a refund from a free event?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:28 |

There were definitely a few there, one even tried to argue with me when I was telling Yamahog a little bit of trivia on how the 3rd gen manual bellhousing cants the transmission to the driver by about 30 degrees for ergonomics. He was pretty belligerent for a Canadian...

They got rid of the gills and made the face more squinty duh.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:30 |

6th generation. It’s on a new platform, so despite the looks, almost everything is more than likely brand new.

He just wasn’t wearing his party toupee for the day.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:33 |

To tell the truth I think Ford and Chevy both screwed up on the rear of their pony cars. Both look just awful.
The real question here should be why you carry two phones. Are you a drug dealer sir? I’m getting a drug dealer-y vibe, hmmmm. Interior does look excellent from the pictures but it’s one of those designs that doesn’t appeal to everyone.
I’d take one over a Stang but I wouldn’t buy a pony car in the first place, I’m too lame and practical. Would 100% take the SS but you know, they don’t even sell them in Canada.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:33 |

I think ill keep my 68 Camaro
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:34 |
|
I wish they pushed the envelope a lil more style wise. It’s like “we could differentiate it more, but in good here. Smoke break!”
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:34 |
|
So, while I do rag on GM for keeping the styling so similar I understand their reasoning, keep in mind that sales saw a huge uptick for the 2013 refresh. I think they will switch a few things up for the refresh whenever that happens to the front and rear fascia, but that is total speculation.
To be honest Yamahog’s ‘15 style and the Gen 1 are the only real Camaro styling I have liked. Also 63% of Generation 5 Camaro owners were 1st time Camaro buyers, so they are doing something right with the styling even if you don’t like it.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:34 |

‘Murica. Someone would find a way.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:35 |

I’m still very undecided on the rear, I’ll have to see one in person. I think interior looks fantastic but were you able to get an idea on materials? I’m curious about the quality in comparison to the Mustang since the pictures make it seem like the Camaro is better.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:35 |

This is the first photo of the new one I’ve really liked. The two-tone and dull orange color really help the lines.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:37 |

never said i dont like it. (except i dont really like any gen camaro) its just they make a huge thing about it being all new and i really dont see much thats all new... I understand that now days companies cant be so radical because they want to keep their customer base, but call it a refresh not a whole new thing.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:37 |
|
I can see why they didn’t, honestly. Five straight years of outselling their main competition (Mustang) with only a minor refresh, and the new platform/engine will continue outperforming even the brand new Mustang, so why mess with your winning formula? And we have yet to see any of the high performance models. I’m sure a 6th Gen ZL1 or Z/28 will be over the top.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:38 |

I wouldn’t expect you to sell it, it’s gorgeous :)
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:39 |

I heard its at blub blub
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:40 |

Maybe they had someone with scissors at the entrance?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:40 |

Now that’s fance.
On an unrelated note, Kinja mobile briefly cropped off the Fieri part of your name. I may have giggled a little
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:40 |

Didn’t get up close with the interior, but they wouldn’t show anything but the uplevel anyway, which I think is a much-needed improvement. The gauges in particular look way better, and it seems GM’s been taking the criticisms of their interiors to heart lately.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:41 |

not sure if serious, but that’s just the Transformers 3 car.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:41 |
|
Why miss with what has been selling? They addressed the issues that most people who bought the car complained about... weight, interior materials, and lack of blind spot monitoring/backup camera...
They lightened it, added magnetic ride control, and gave it some bad ass powertrain options. The 16 SS is already faster than the SS 1LE from 15.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:43 |
|
GM and Honda said the same thing in the late 80s, 90s & early 2000s. Then saw their market share erode. Camarillo changes weren't conservative when it was brought back. I'd like that same mentality. But we can have bumble bee look entirely different in the next transformers.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:43 |

Most of the time when a manufacturer says “all new” its a refreshed car with carry over engines, on platform that has been around since Jesus left Baltimore. While the 16 Camaro may look similar, its more “All New” that most cars that are touted as “All New”
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:43 |

Is that not actually a new one? The headlights look much more aggressive than I thought the facelifted 5th gen had.
I legitimately can’t tell from the side.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:44 |

We both have two phones, actually :) One personal and then our totally-not-drug-related jobs give us separate cell phones instead of office landlines.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:45 |

And the headlights, and the whole ass end.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:45 |

Santiago cuts to the important business.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:47 |
|
Yup, it’s Bumblebee. The strip of fascia between the grilles is waaaaay thinner on the 6th Gen.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:50 |
|
That would make me awkward....
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:51 |
|
Meaning the 16 SS is already faster than the 15 GT with performance pack.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:52 |

Work Phone (Customer Calls/Work Email) Personal Phone (Because Yamahog and I both have Snapchat)
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:53 |
|
Yeah. All if what you said was cool. But the styling is still meh. From some angles it's very mustang-ish. It's not thought provoking or anything. Looks like a mid-cycle refresh. Not the emergence of a new generation.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:53 |
|
I was just messing haha! I wish I had a separate work phone so I could “accidentally” lose it on my days off.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:54 |
|
You’re already awkward but it’s ok :D
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:55 |
|
Yeah, Now Ford has to pull 200lbs out of it’s car to be even remotely competitive. Plus if GM drops the ATS-V Twin Turbo Six or one of the Supercharged 8’s in the Camaro, It’s game over for Ferd.
Plus from a development standpoint, the mustang is a single program on the platform. There are now three vehicles on Alpha, with that much real performance data, GM can spend a lot of time dialing these cars in for the next refresh.
Personally, I’m hoping for a 4 door Camaro sized Chevy on the 4 door ATS platform. Probably not going to happen, but I can dream.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:58 |
|
So now you’re going to buy a Mustang instead? Ok, fine. Be way slower. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s GM’s response.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 17:59 |
|
Amen to that.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:01 |
|
I wonder if the LT4 engine from the Z06 will make its way into the Camaro ZL1, that would be so badass! Also, the Chevy SS rides on the same platform as the 5th gen Camaro so maybe they could give that car a redesign (and new name) on the Alpha platform.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:04 |
|
Naw I’d grab the ATS. Been eyeing one for a while. Maybe a pre owned v even an SS in several years. Don’t get me wrong. I love the MECHANICAL UPGRADES, but meh on exterior styling.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:06 |
|
I mean it’s just a matter of when for the LT4, probably detuned to 640 like the Cadillac. I wouldnt put any money on GM putting another car on Alpha, East Grand River Assembly already has the Camaro, CTS, CTS-V ATS coupe and sedan, which is a full plant load.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:08 |
|
were you meh on the 15 styling as well?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:12 |
|
Not really. It thought it was okay. Refresh.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:16 |
|
So you’re ok with the design language on 15, but taking that language to a new better platform makes it meh? Just trying to understand your logic here...
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:35 |
|
D’awwww
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:57 |
|
Can the 7th gen be a throwback to the 3rd gen?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:58 |
|
And basically every other detail?
‘It looks the same as the old one’ is the new ‘looks like an Accord coupe’
But whatever, haters gonna hate. I like the new one, really excited to see it hit showrooms
![]() 05/16/2015 at 18:59 |
|
You tease the new 2016 as all new but really isn't? Just expected more.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 19:01 |
|
Obviously I am biased towards the looks of my 5th gen, but there’s no denying the new one will outperform it and will still sell like hotcakes.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 19:03 |
|
Get yourself a GM design gig and see how that works out :) better have t-tops!!
![]() 05/16/2015 at 19:16 |
|
It is literally all new. Just because it looks like the old one does not invalidate that it is still all new. Every Porsche 911 since the dawn of time has looked like a melted beetle, but each new generation is all new and faster and no one bitches.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 19:20 |
|
It’s been known for over a year that the 2016’s styling would be more evolutionary.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 19:24 |
|
Meh.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 20:30 |
|
I was just gonna ask for a mullet count.
![]() 05/16/2015 at 21:30 |
|
And louvers. Lots of louvers.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 13:29 |
|
How come you didn’t wait and buy the new one?
![]() 05/17/2015 at 16:27 |
|
The most practical reason is that I have little faith that the Jeep would’ve lasted as my DD until the 2016 model years hit dealers, and if I could’ve waited until then, I would have looked at leasing an ATS-V.
Other more trivial reasons include: really not a fan of the rear at all, no new 1LE package announced yet, got a really good deal on a 15, and I’m still absolutely in love with it no matter what that jerkface Travis says.
![]() 05/17/2015 at 16:43 |
|
I agree that doing a ‘why your car sucks’ on your gf’s car is mean, but swapping out the V8 in his Monte Carlo for a 3 cylinder diesel in front of a CVT as punishment? That...that was hardcore. Damn.
Don’t get on Yamahog’s bad side, y’all. It won’t go well...
![]() 05/17/2015 at 16:48 |
|
A diseasal mated to a CVT? Omg what kind of monster do you think I am??
