Why no synthetic then? Veronica has needs.

“Veronica”?
That’s an interesting choice.

I appreciate O'Reillys, because they give a military discount that really does make a difference. I hope you enjoy working there.

I kinda am weary of synthetic for a truck this old. Also, in my records it shows she had synthetic oil in her for 6mos, then the PO switched her back to conventional. There mustve been a reason for that.

May as well do an full oil change if you’re getting it on the cheap.

Oreillys brand oil actually isnt that bad, but Valvoline is miles better

Oddly, Elvis Costello was my first thought. “Archie” a distant second,

How much of a discount do you actually get? Enough that Valvoline costs the same as house brand?
![]() 05/15/2015 at 20:08 |

I use Castrol. Don’t really have a reason why.
![]() 05/15/2015 at 20:09 |

Costs. I doubt there is a real reason to switch back or forth. I've had both in the metro, didn't notice a difference, switched back.

he said that he and his family get like a 10% discount at Oreillys.

House brand is $20 on the shelf and Valvoline is $25. I get 10% above cost, and it varies from product to product. I got the Valvoline for maybe $6 off shelf price. I used to use Oreillys brand because it was half decent quality and cheap, Now I get Valvoline for roughly the same cost that I got the store brand for before I got hired.

I use Castrol, my Skoda dealership gives it to me for free to look after the car along with free windscreen wash.

All that savings!!!
Thanks, I’m not on here a lot so you may have answered this before. But thanks.
I have another question. How does O’Reilly’s give discounts? What I mean by that is what does it take to qualify? A few years ago I was in a jeep club, and one of the members was goin in frequently during an engine swap and talking to the guys got the jeep club hooked up with a discount.
I used the discount a few times, even after I quit paying dues until they asked me for a membership card. The discount wasn’t massive or anything but it was something. I was wondering what it’d take to set one up for Oppo.
This isn’t urgent or anything, & I’m sure it wouldn’t be same as the discount you get.
Just curious.
Cheers

Is O’Reilly’s a decent employer? I’m possibly going to be looking for a new job in the near future.
I got the first oil change done on my Dart yesterday. $70 because Dodge says all Darts must have full synthetic regardless of motor. Convinced me to finally start doing it myself.

I just started working there today, Im not even done with my training yet. I’ll have to get back to you on that

I kinda like how Valvoline hasn't gone for any super fancy packaging, or upgraded their logo like five million times in the last couple decades.

I’ll have to get back to ya, Today was only my first day and I spent it in front of a computer screen doing training

Oh & congrats on the job. Like I said, no rush, just something to think about.
I’m sure you’ll meet some cool people there on both sides of the counter. The one guy I did know that worked there would mention burnouts in the parking lot & hooning on a weekly basis. (Don’t talk to him anymore, something about messing around with another guys wife in the jeep club, and she left husband for him. Not ok by me)

I know that fun. I've been a member of management at a Rite Aid for over a year, pretty sick of it.

No reason to really run synth in his engine.

I changed the oil in my ‘94 semi-beater Toyota Corona EXiV using the Valvoline Racing stuff. It suited my driving style in that car (poweeeeeer), but it leaks like a sieve so next change I will just put some thicker Castrol stuff.
