Of the many reasons I love sportscar racing...
The teams are truly enthusiastic and they shout it to the world.
They openly admit their opponents have better days when it happens.
They all want to win every single race and yet understand fully that racing does not exist without the competition .
I was just watching Porsche’s post-race video montage of the 6hrs of Spa and had to pause it right here...
^^That’s how you know racing is the good life. When Porsche’s Fritz Enzinger and Audi’s Wolfgang Ullrich are rubbing elbows at the end of a long day.
No formula car series has this so openly. What is is about sharing a seat in a race car that makes the feeling of being part of a team spill over into everything else? I don’t know, but I like it .
Here’s the full Porsche clip.

Just wait till Ferrari goes sportscar racing. The fun and camaraderie will be gone in no time. Nothing ruins fun like a prancing horse. NOTHING.

In before the “ Oh, but the passion of the tifosi ...” (lol)
Actually I didn’t mean to make this about the Germans specifically or even the LMP1 class, they are just most the high-profile example smacking me in the face at this moment.
Even the teams running Ferrari sports cars in endurance/shared-seat racing have a team mentality and have some empathy for their opponent’s misfortunes in a way that none of the F1 squads will convey.
Bernie’s been making the F1 Kool-Aid for far too long.
