Why dont motorcyles have an OBD style interface? its not like they are That much less complex then cars. And It would be pretty easy to trouble shoot with it.

Because carb’s don’t electronics.

yea, like my SV is FI...BMWS and ducatis have freaking electronic suspension at this point, and cars had OBD2 LOOOONNGG before they got electronic suspension.

There’s no standard, but many of them do.
My Harley has a port you can read with an OBDII reader, but you need (of course) an adapter for the interface.

Many do, it’s just that tuning isn’t a big business because motorcycle engines tend to already be wringing out every last hp from their components, and diagnosis isn’t a big deal on most bikes because there isn’t much to go wrong.
I know newer Ducatis with the full-color LCD screens will give you specific diagnoses of issues.

Yes, they are that much less complex than cars. Just because a motorcycle has a computer controller does not mean that it is as complicated as one on a car (modern cars can have upwards of a dozen.)
The OBD protocols were developed to diagnose emissions control systems that are largely absent on motorcycles. What you get from a car’s OBD system is mandated and standardized by law. Even if you had a connector on a bike, you would get nothing out of it. The controllers are not set up to respond to queries the same way a car does.

I have a carb and an ECM. The timing is set and doesn’t adjust but its a computer that does it. It also possibly can play pong. Might be laggy however...

Damaged/blocked lines, out of gas, lean/rich,loose/tight, dirty/carbed up. You need a computer to figure that out?

jokes on you I dont have a carb.
It was a random thought, and it would make it eaise to disagnose multicylinder bikes if somthing went wrong (or one of those 6 cylinder BMWs or a gold wing)

Sticking with my old fashioned Honda. No Need on a carbed motorcycle everything is related to the throttle body or battery. The ECM isn’t even variable. Commodore Made them. They used the old 64 assembly line. Starting the damn thing taked 2 hours of loading tape after tape.
