Last weekend was Caffeine and Carburetors at Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT. Most of you probably know this, and are currently wondering why I’m posting about it nearly a week after the fact. Well, I took some pictures. So did a number of other Oppos, but they posted them within a timely fashion so I don’t feel bad about making another C&C photo dump. Enjoy! Or don’t. I’m not your mom.
This was the crew, plus a black S200, a black S4, a white 2002 and a blue E24 6er. They didn’t get to park with the cool kids. Yes, that Jetta is parked next to a Ford GT.
Fun fact: the coolant overflow tank in the Mini cracked on my way to meet with everyone before the drive to New Canaan, and the tank is directly above the exhaust. There was a fair amount of steam and, in my initial panic, I thought my car was on fire. It turned out fine though, and actually make it the rest of the day without overheating, even though I drove responsibly exactly 0% of the time I was with this group.
Pro tip: there are some amazing twisty roads in the back woods of New Canaan. The S200, JCW Mini, AMG Merc, and the muffler-less S-Type R were an absolute blast.

ALPINE!!! There was a fucking Alpine!!! On fucking Gottis!!! I’m still having a crisis over this...
This thing sounded like crap, unfortunately. Also desperately needs a spacer in the rear.
The Mini looks scared.
And the 300D. It had an exhaust delete and no waste gate. Absolutely hysterical.
Heads up, I’m going to repost this tomorrow because it’s kind of late. I just didn’t want to forget to put this together.

We got there when the hood was still down, and it looked like a regular old Volvo wagon. Cool enough, but nothing special... Then I noticed the brakes. When we were looping back around the hood was open and there it was. Absolutely mental.

No way! We need a “missed connections” section of Oppo. Brian Silvestro was there too.
I saw the Singer Porsche that was there screaming down the Post Road in Westport today. If only there was less traffic, I would have done a quick U-turn and tried to grab a picture.

I envy you for just being in it’s presence....I’ve LOVED these cars since I saw a model of one in a Ccurago catalog as a kid. I have that model sitting on a shelf in front of me as we speak, but I’ve never had the chance to see one in person....
