BMW tuning & racing outfit !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Well, it began its life as a 325i before it was sent to Hartge in Germany where it was made into one of 10 Hartge H50 V10s in the world, and supposedly the only one in the US.
The Hartge H50 V10 is what happens when some overenthusiastic German engineer types decide they want to take the drivetrain from an E60 M5 and put it in an E90 3-series, and make it seem like it came from the factory that way. 550 hp in a 3-series is nuts, in a good way.
Aside from the big wheels & brakes, the lip spoilers, and the vented front fenders with additional badges, it almost looks stock.
Actually, there’s one sorta goofy detail. This car uses the SMG sequential transmission, and in spite of a custom set of gauges with a 200 mph speedo and proper redline on the tach, I guess Hartge couldn’t figure out a way to get the display on the dash between the gauges to give transmission information like what gear you’re in, so they put a little extra display above the center-left dash vent.
My only experience with BMW flappy-paddle transmissions is the 7-speed DCT in my 135is (which is great) and the old 6-speed Steptronic automatic in an E90 335i I test drove before buying my car (and wasn’t so great). The SMG transmission in this car doesn’t have the best reputation, but maybe it’s alright?
Oh, who are we kidding, the important part is the V10 under the hood.
Here’s a video, and a bunch more pictures.

FYI, the SMG was the go-to subject of “automated manuals are shit” rants for many years. It is by all accounts awful.
