You are free to make a styling-driven, more expensive, less practical version of the Golf. I’m sure you sell lots of them. It might even be interesting to drive, I mean the GTI is quite good.
However, if you’re going to make a water cooled, front engine, front wheel drive hatchback, for the love of God Ferdinand Porsche... don’t call it a Beetle. When I see someone open the wrong end of a Type 1 shaped object to retrieve a bag of groceries, I cri evryteim.
It’s just...
I will admit, though, the handle on the new hatch is pretty awesome.
Sincerely,
Some guy who has nothing better to do than semi-sarcastically bitch on the internet about things that don’t matter in the slightest.

This complaint is about 17 years too late.

Oh I know. I just parked next to one with the hatch open and felt like doing a bit of therapeutic get-off-my-lawning

Still better than people putting their groceries in an actual rear engined car.
Now I would add that one image of a dude putting a bag in the engine bay of a 911, but I am too lazy to search you are not worthy.

Do you realistically think they would reengineer a whole new platform with a rear engine chassis? Do you realize how stupid that sounds? Vw used and still does use the same fucking parts for all of their lineup. Back In the day every fucking vw had an engine in the back rwd and a stick shift. They might have been the laziest car maker of all time because every one was the exact same. Today they are all fwd except a few and most have 2.0t or 2.5 engines they're not ones to take risks or engineer something new or different just use the same parts with a different body on top

Haha no need, I saw Torch’s rant on the FP.
