To be fair roundabouts are horrible. So glad there are non where I live. Once in Appleton Wi I was stuck in one roundabout that was chained into another. Never did make it to that Golden Corral...which I guess was a blessing in disguise when I look back at it now.

Lol. The single line ones are ok, the double laned ones...are full of wtf.

I live in the country that invented the roundabout, where there’s no such thing as a four-way stop, and I actually really like them. I suppose it helps that every driver here has to learn how to use them before they can get their licence.

When I got back from overseas I established residency in Iowa and recently back to Illinois, neither state required that kind of training but maybe when I was younger it could have helped me from going hungry that day

Which country btw?

The UK. We've more roundabouts-per-mile-of-road than any other country on the planet. They all follow a consistent set of rules, and learning how to navigate them properly is a key part of any learner driver's lessons.

We have a bunch where I live. They really did speed up traffic flow. I understand if you have never used them before they can be stressful. But once you’re accustomed to them they work amazing. Some locations where there never used to be one were frequently extremely congested. Not after constructing the circle. Most of them are 2 lane ones here. If used properly collisions can not happen. We have a 3 lane one too. Works quite well.

A 3 lane one? *hides*
Here we have some where outside yields to inside and some where inside is supposed to yield to outside which makes no sense. I want the rules to be consistent.

That sounds really weird. Ours are all consistent. I was terrified when I first used the 3 lane one. I think they actually may have reduced it to a 2 lane one after a young girl got run over crossing the road there (simply because she was texting and walking).

You stateside? I am in ontario.

I guess what I dont get is how the fuck do we know if inside yields to outside or outside yields to inside. Here some are one way and some are the other and it makes no sense so it’s confusing.
Also if you want to pass a car in the roundabout and it’s clear people go round the wrong damn way to pass people. I used to do that too but I don’t anymore.
