Hi Guys & Gals

Just curious if anyone knows what the heck this blank is? I have a 2013 Forester Touring 2.5 and this blank bugs me. It’s manual in case there’s a button that the auto has there that the manual won’t. The pic is from the left of the steering column. What is immediately to the left of the blank is the interior light dimmer control.

Kinja'd!!!

Anyone have one not blanked? I’m just really curious and haven’t found anything out yet.

My WRX has that same blank. I think it’s there for the headlight leveling.

Angle of the HID lights? My BRZ lets you decide the angle of it with a rolling thing in that area and that looks like the right size for it.

Blank buttons might never go away. It just makes too much sense to re-use the standard panel and buttons you already make than to make 2 or 3 different panels relative to the trim level. Even a $130k S-Class can’t escape the realities of cost-cutting mass manufacturing.

Headlight levelling isn’t usually a thing where you are? It’s compulsory on cars sold in the EU.

Nope. This is the first car I’ve ever had with this feature. Obviously, I’m not couting pop-up headlamps, which are fucking amazing.

Is it fog lights that you don’t have? That switch may be on the other side though...

I’m surprised there have been no “party mode button” comments...yet...

the others nailed it. it’s for the headlight leveling. Subaru (especially on the earlier models) likes recycling the same interior trim across multiple models...such as at the time, wrx, sti, impreza and foresters

Nah, the fog lights are a different switch, and I have them. Sounds like head light leveling.

I have never heard of such a thing - the concensus is you’re right. I guess that’s what happens when I don’t have HID’s. Thanks!!

I know eh. I just find it so irritating. I mean, I know I didn’t get the limited trim level the next step up, but dammit - this is a pretty well loaded touring trim Fozzy. No blanks please.

I’ve never heard of the headlight leveling - strange to me. I don’t know if Canada just doesn’t have it or what. Huh, thanks eh!

Never heard of that feature - good to know tho, thanks! I wonder if I can do anything with it without making anything ugly.

I’m not positive but I do believe that the STI is the only car in Subaru’s North American lineup to have used that feature.

The STi gets all the toys.

It’s only on the older models with HID headlights
