Ford has been really slacking with the quality control on the new F150s. Recalls for parts not being fastened properly, cars with missing heat shields, F150’s with misaligned body panels, etc. Not recalling in huge numbers but still, they’re letting cars leave the factories improperly put together; Ford has been doing amazing the last few years in regard to quality, why would they start throwing that away now?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

You can see a few more recalls that are due to poor quality control !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

And nobody bring up GM, I know they have had a lot more problems but this post is about Ford, not GM, so keep your hate out of here.

The “chrome” on the grill of our ‘09 Flex looked like wrinkled tinfoil by 50k miles.

On the other hand: Finally something to bitch about other than My Ford Touch? ;)

It’s because they don’t build them in Canada ;)

My moms new Fusion had quality control issues from the first time she even test drove it. The plastic B and C pillars weren’t fastened right so there were gaps so big I could shove my fist in them. These were the most blatantly obvious faults I’ve ever seen and should have never ever made it past quality control. Then there was the cover that covers the bolt that hold the sun visor to the roof falling off in my moms lap. I also noticed a bubbling in the (presumably factory) window tint and fraying on the leading edge of the headliner from a sloppy fabric cut.

I mean it’s a great driving, comfortable car, but her 2008 Saturn had more attention to detail than this.

Well they are bringing out a whole new design for a lot of their cars and trucks. So it could just be teething problems

That’s what happens when you dump all of the company budget into the marketing of EcoSlag engines.

That’s nuts, my ‘03 yukon has one of those “chome” grilles and it doesn’t have a single bubble on it at 150k km (93k miles).

Wow, sounds like her car skipped past the quality control line altogether. Car must have one of them “too cool for school” type of attitudes.

True but the amount of quality issues they've had so far this year is pretty sad.

Who needs quality control when you can just ECOBOOST ALL THE THINGS BRO!

Yeah somebody probably just wanted to get out of there so they stamped a giant “PASS” on a piece of paper.

My fiesta’s been pretty good so far. The plastic gap cover between the steering column and the instrument cluster needed to be put back in......not sure why it wiggled out so it could’ve been a bumping or something but that’s been it. And that pice has those little snappy things at the tips so it was all of “Oh......that should be pushed in, right? *snap* And that’s job done”

But then again the Fiesta is a global car so maybe they worked the bugs out of the design and production? The new F-150 might not have had a good change-over period to train the workers on whats different n installing things between the old truck and new truck.

It just seems like they are rushing to ship the cars out so they’re missing a lot of small things. The F150 having misaligned body panels though, not sure what happened there, could be what you said.

I mean what do you expect? Everything isn't hand built like a Rolls Royce or super precise like a Porsche. They are just some factory workers in Mitchigan and Kansas working with all new things. Also the demand for Ford is high so they are trying to keep up with demand.

Working with all new things? I’m pretty sure that only one vehicle in their entire-lineup has all aluminum construction, and that’s the only new thing that they’re working with. To not be fastening parts properly and other parts having massive gaps, is a little unacceptable. They have quality control teams for a reason, whether they do their jobs or not is another story.

Yes there is a higher demand for Fords but you know what else has a high demand? Toyota and Honda, and they don’t have quite as much quality problems as Ford does. I’m going to assume that since you have a Ford in your avi then you're just going to defend and create excuses for them.

they’re building more and more parts of the cars/trucks in mexico. Yes it may have final assembly (hometown, USA) but a lot of it is assembled in mex-e-co

Well no the mustang is all new as well and you never know what little things have been changed. Also Toyota and Honda depending on which is made overseas and have different methods of QC. But I will admit it is unacceptable for this to be happening

I just find it sad that Ford is slacking this much, they have had the least amount of problems out of the big 3 they can’t throw it away now. They seem to forget that despite all the problems, GM is still waayyy bigger and supposedly (according to reputable institutions) more reliable than them.

Kinja'd!!! Cherry_man1 > AM

Well I can say reliability they are close equals. for a while before my dad was fired he had a GM car and I think it only had to go to the shop once. My 2011 GT seems to be just fine honestly and hasn’t left me stranded. only car that did was my 1973 Gran Torino only because the points locked up.

Also ya maybe they are too focused on the new performance line up that the QC dept is lacking. who knows.

They should just keep assembly in Canada and the US. They only use Mexico because they are cheap to pay. Canada isn't all that expensive to pay though and workers get free healthcare.
