A friend of mine is looking for a dashcam, and although I am a bit of a tech geek I don’t have any experience with these. Price should be around $150 or less, and preferably use SD cards. Ultra-high resolution isn’t really necessary, so I would think that 720p would suffice. Do any of these things have image stabilization? I’ve tried filming using my phone and a windshield mount, but there was just too much vibration.
Any suggestions? Good comparison sites?
Thanks!

Check the front page, they have had a couple articles and reviews on this topic in the past year or so. Most recently: http://jalopnik.com/the-best-budge…

Dashcamtalk.com is a great site with recommendations, reviews, user forums, etc.
P.S. If I replace my current Livue LB100 , I’d want something with resolution higher than 720P. Unless you’re right behind a car at a stop light, North American licence plates aren’t very legible in 720P.

I've used the G1W-H, Mini 801, and the Mini 803. You can't go wrong with a cheap G1W-H but I really, really like the size/design of the Mini series. They've realeased the Mini 805 and I'll probably upgrade to that pretty soon. Seriously, it's small, inconspicuous, easy to mount, takes great video. Get the mini 805! I'd post a link buuuuuuuuut IE and Kinja apparently aren't friends.

Edit: Hey, it worked!
