Funny enough, I was reading an English book written in ‘32 over the weekend, and it referred to the order practiced by US folk (month, day) as being in use and traditional in the UK but at that time old-fashioned. Just because the UK decided to harmonize with the continent so many years ago doesn’t mean the US has to.

I just thought it was interesting that Angle-Land were the ones who changed, not us - since I’d not done any prior scholarship on it, but was familiar with German usage, which has been day-month since time immemorial.

I don’t know when it changed but it was way before we went metric in 1970. I guess it was to stop foreign visitors getting confused.
