So, a few weeks ago I said I was dead,,that was after a tweet fight with mr. H.

Good, I won’t be back the j page, but that doesn’t mean I dislike the eds and commenters from sub blogs like Flight Club and BlackFlag, so you may see me around.

I’ve been called a dick by mr. H after sharing a true story of 2 times 3 years of Brand new Mazda ownership (2003 p5 and 2006 speed6) and one time volvo(2005 s40) for a total of 11 years of experience with those brands.

Of course, mr. H didn’t liked that, and his strong experience of only owning one old top gear beater for a few weeks led him to ban me and qualify me as a dick.

A dick.

I’ve never been a dick on Jalopnik, never, I fought against some memes for sure, but it was for the greater good. Telling kids to take their hard earned money to buy a a Maserati biturbo is not something to be proud of, and it’s almost criminal.

You may see me around on flight club or blackflag, or maybe oppo when my old friends will call me, but I’m afraid that if mr. H reads this, he will make sure I’ll never post again.

I wish I could say that I’m surprised or that someone was in here enumerating all of your missteps, but I can’t. The whole tone on the FP is just fucking bizarre these days. I haven’t been around since the beginning, but I’ve been around for a while now, and this kind of shit just didn’t happen 4 or 5 years ago; the community wouldn’t have let it fly even if it did, but this place has way outgrown the community’s ability to police the editors or itself, I guess.

Hey Kate, I say keep on doing what you do. Don’t back down. Even though not everyone has the same opinion as you, it doesn’t mean they have to. I mean, I have a Mazda and like it well enough, it’s my second one as a matter of fact but I get why some people don’t drink the kool aid. Well that’s the point.

I’m not against Mazda, I gave them something like 60k, but when mr. H says something like “people are dumb not to buy a Mazda” well I’m stepping up big time. Mazdas arent for everyone.

But mr. H, who never owned a car, disagree.

Btw, he also banned evan mccan for similar reasons.

In defense of new mazda - the protege was a rust prone shitbox where the 3 had at least some measure of rust prevention.....not much better than a GM job but still worlds better than the chevy vega treatment on the protege. That and the speed6 is an appalling pile of shit. Blows up after 60-80k at the most. Never seen one go further. Everyone who says theres does has an internet history that shows no mention of their speed6 ownership......funny on that.........but besides really the speed3/6 new mazda has been absolutely killing it.

Gamecat, my two mazdas were shitboxes, especially the speed6. The speed6 was shitting both diffs after about 10k miles. Fuck, and it was rusting.

The Volvo was much better, but after 5 years and about 45k miles, best price we got was 12500.

We paid 42000 for that car.

There is no reasons to buy a volvo or a Mazda unless you either lease short term or really want to lose money.

You should have come ice roading. We could have put the mazda into the river. I like my dad’s mazda, (2003 Mazda 6 wagon) but the maintenance costs a lot sometimes. Also mazda 3 rusts a lot.

I haven’t always seen eye-to-eye with the guy, but I’ve never known him to be anything but cool.

Rather than running off half-cocked in a blaze of self-righteous internet fury, try approaching Matt and saying, “Hey, first off, I apologize for having come off as a dick as a reaction to getting banned. That being said, I got upset because I didn’t understand why I was banned. Can you please tell me what the reasoning was, and if you’re so willing, allow me to present my side of the story?”

Seriously, at this point, the only reason that any or all of this appears to be a problem at all is because you keep making it one.

You got banned from the front page? Here’s your merit badge. I’ve got one of those, too. At one point, I was briefly banned. I wasn’t sure why, either. But I reached out to an editor in an appropriate manner (i.e., not a public bitch fest on Oppositelock), talked it over, came to an understanding, and promptly got reinstated. Not only that, I also got a star within 24 hours of having done so.

It’s amazing what a difference a little bit of levelheadedness makes.

Welcome back, like the others, I’m glad you’re here. Now that you’re here, let’s resume building (or, as the case may be, mending) fences rather than burning bridges.

Sorry I can’t read your post in one shot, so you may have multiples answers.

Sure, who cares, It’s not important, but it’s been my interwebz home for like 5 years. I even made friends here. As much as I came to dislike the “jalop” way of thinking, interacting with people with diverging opinions is something I value, as long as it’s an open-minded discussion.

Also, as a French speaking person, it’s been helpful in practicing my English writing. So yes, to say I don’t care would be a lie, because I do.

Now, as for the bitterness, I didn’t do anything to command a ban, a graying maybe, but a ban?

I didn’t post porn pictures, been racist or sexist, nothing that is way out of the “code of conduct”.

Hey, unrelated question: would you have any pics of 2nd gen (2010-2013) Mazda 3 with rust? I haven’t seen any yet. I’m genuinely interested in those kind of issues (no bashing, I promise).

I do understand that you were insatisfied with your 2 models: the 2.3 is known to over consume oil, like the 2.0T from VW.

Also, I’d like to point out that rust can appear after a small rock impact (éclat de roche, in french) on any model year vehicles if it hasn’t been repaired. Also, Quebec weather is a bitch for rust on all vehicles, including Fords (one few of our clients complained about rust on his 2013 Escape)! The solution: rustproofing.
