This is not bright blue. It’s what you and I would call navy blue. And that price is not making things better. *rant ahead, skip this if you don’t want to read it.*

Who in their right mind would pay for these Watches with link bracelets? Apparently some might have drunk ordered them, as they’re back-ordered until July. And for that price, do you know what you could get?
A 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus. That’s right folks, you could pay $1099 for a watch you probably won’t use every day, or $949 for a far more useful phone. (believe me, that screen size rocks) But what if you’re into Android?
128 GB S6 for $799. I’m not an Android user (I use a silver 6+) but if I couldn’t choose iOS, I’d definitely give this a shot. (or a Moto X) But this is Oppo. So for the absurd price of entry for an Apple Watch, you could also get…
This $903 exhaust if you own an Accord.
And don’t even get started on the Watch Edition…
For the price of the 42mm Edition, you can get this Skyline GTS-T. Who wants a watch when you can get a Skyline ?
Moral of the story? Buy a different smart watch.

or just buy a regular watch and anything else you please.

Or you could, you know, buy a real analog watch.

Because a Skyline isn’t soy wheat friendly.

I have been an Apple guy from my first days of computing in the early ‘90s, and have been a part of Apple’s ecosystem the whole time. But I would never buy such a watch. Because everybody who buys an iWatch looks like this.

The Skyline wasn’t built in a sweatshop.

I’m also an Apple person, but instead of buying an Apple watch I chose to get something else.

Or you could just buy a regular watch? Seriously what is the point of these if you have a phone already.

Well, the same thing could apply to any Apple product. Why buy an iPhone if you can get two better Androids? Or why not buy some nice clothes? Or spend it all on one night out. It goes on and on.

If you have a large phone like I do then having a basic smartwatch (around $100-150) is nice, because you don’t have to pull out your phone every time to see who’s texted you. But paying $1000 for a watch that does the same thing as a basic smartwatch is absurd.

iPhones have a purpose. Nice clothes have a purpose. But this? It’s useless.

Whoa, woah, woah...$949 for an iPhone 6 Plus 128GB? $750 for a Galaxy S6 128GB? Those prices are insane!
*checks local provider*
Holy crap. iPhone 6 Plus 128GB: $730 on a 2-year plan, $1220 no term
S6 128 GB: $470 2-year, $970 no term.
My Sony Xperia Z3 16GB: $0 on a 2-year. 128GB microSD card: ~$110

I’m an apple guy and even I think the Apple Watch is stupid. If you want a smart watch go buy a Pebble and save the extra $500 or so.

I can’t believe that my Pebble smartwatch, that I bought off a guy on Craigslist for $80, is waterproof. But the Apple watch isn’t and costs $400.

Pebbles are freaking great. I’d highly recommend it.

Which Pebble do you have? I have the Steel and it’s fantastic.

Well if it’s $150 then yes absolutely buy one but if a guy pays $1000 for one well I’m sorry but he’s just an idiot.

I have a decent amount of Apple gear. I stopped wearing a watch when I started carrying a phone that fits in my pocket and has the time displayed on it easily. That was a long time ago.

Apple could close its doors tomorrow, and as long as my in-laws sold their stock before it happened, I'd be happy about it.
I got a Microsoft Band and am genuinely thrilled with it. I got mine used, but would have gladly paid the full $200 for it, it's that good. Makes the fitnits, jawbones, and others look like kids' toys, and has more sensors than an iWatch (and lighter and less bulky!)

Been thinking about getting a band. Does it do a pretty good job of calculating calories burned during workouts?

So far it's been surprisingly accurate. It's the first smartwatch/fitness band I've owned but I've tried many before it and it seems as or more accurate than others. The Microsoft Health app is marvelous, allowing tracking of calorie intake/burn, sleep, heart monitors, etc., and saving that history for future use. Plus, having Cortana sync with my Lumia has been a joy, especially if I'm doing something where the phone is inaccessible or my hands are dirty - like driving or working on a car — and don't/can't reach for the phone. I charge it in the morning after walking the dogs, so during breakfast and getting ready for work (45-60 minutes), and it's good to go for at least a day and a half (I've only had it since Thursday so I don't have a great grasp of its battery life yet, but I've heard 2-3 days with typical use). Surprisingly comfortable and unobtrusive, but I recommend getting a screen protector if you do any desk work or interact with scratch-inducing items like tools and cars. I got an extra charging cable for the car that I haven't yet used, as the Band uses a proprietary (duh) magnetic port but from a standard USB connector.
I highly recommend it. It looks good, so as at home at a gym as a board meeting; feels good; and has added surprisingly useful info about myself that is helping me work towards my weight loss and fitness goals.

The basic Jet Black Pebble. For $80, I can’t complain. Text notifications and being able to change music is sweet. I’ll probably upgrade to a true smartwatch, once the watches like the Moto X are more refined.

Awesome! What Lumia do you have?

My "daily driver" is a yellow 1020, but I also have a green 1520, white 925, black 520, and a cyan 900.
...I may have a bit of a problem, haha.
The 520 I got to tinker with since it was $20, and I keep lending them out to friends who need a loaner while theirs are being fixed or replaced, but do far 8 of 9 borrowers have wound up liking the little guy and buying it off me, so I would get a new one; next time I'm getting a 640. The 1520 I acquired from a local repair shop since they couldn't honor my Groupon for repair since they don't work on Lumias (phone racism!), so they gave me the phone, though it has broken glass, everything else works on it, though I put clear packing tape over the screen to keep from getting glass splinters or cut. Totally worth the $25 Groupon. The 900 I preordered and received a week before they were officially on sale, so it was fun showing it off, and it still stands out being the marvelous cyan color, and was my main camera for my vacation to Hawai'i shortly after I got it. The 925 I got on release day, but was superseded by the 1020 when a coworker gave it to me when he got a company phone, and he was deeply annoyed about not being able to keep using a Lumia.
I'm reeeeeeally hoping Microsoft puts out some solid flagships this fall (rumors indicate they have some really good ones coming), preferably a 1020 successor, as while I love this phone, I do wish it had expandable storage like the 520 and 1520, and was as fast as the 1520 (or faster, though that seems like it would be difficult).

Awesome! Windows phone folks are hard to find. I have a 920, the wife has a 1520. She is an iOS convert. I've had my 920 about 2 years, its finally starting to show it's age. GPS barely works, and its starting to slow down a bit. I'm waiting on WP 10 to drop before buying something new. Have you installed the tech preview on your 520?

I have 10TP on the 520 and 1520. The 1020 didn't play nicely with it, especially being unlocked and on T-Mobile instead of its native AT&T. The 925 is relegated to redundant backup status, though I've had a few offers for it. My wife has expressed interest in it after all the headaches she's had with her Galaxy S3, S5, and work iphonie (which, gratifyingly, she abhors).
