as you are in the USA , but to be president you have to be born in the us right?
so how can Ted Cruz run when he was born in Canada?

I believe you just have to be born a US citizen, not born on US soil. His mother was born in somewhere in New England I think, and I believe his father was also a naturalized citizen.

Yep, just checked. The constitution only states that one must be a “natural–born citizen”, so that means either born on US soil or born to American parents.

12+12+11+11 = 46%
54 % realize they all suck
just another election
i know nothing about anything in this post except being able to add 12+12+11+11

You can’t be a naturalized citizen, is what it means. If your parents are citizens and you’re born outside the US, you’re a natural born citizen unless you seek citizenship elsewhere.

I dunno, I think Clinton would do okay. Not great, but like we could coast through the next 4-8 years without anything changing for the worse. But yeah, enough about politics. As soon as one election happens, everyone focuses on the next and it hurts my brain.

Not necessarily, it’s a bit of a grey area thanks to the language (‘natural-born citizen’ being the key phrase) but technically because his mom was an American he was born with American citizenship.
