No Peugeots for today because no O so we have to look a bit more upmarket to the German taxi driver’s delight, the Merc W115. This was Merc’s smaller car in the late 60s and early 70s and was the four cylinder variant of the W114.
Here’s a 220D, by far the biggest selling model. Took a surprisingly long time to find one that wasn’t the weird looking American variety with round headlights squeezed into an oblong hole.

Or you can go with this stylish Fiat that goes by the same (sans the W) chassis code.

115-C was also an entry level Packard in 1937 (15th series as Packard didn’t really have year models in way that others had). Here’s the most expensive 115-C version.

There was a Delahaye rather like that.

I’m afraid that’s long before my time. It has rather a Peugeot 404 look about it though.

I’ve always wanted to write an ode to my old 240d. Possibly one of the most jalop cars ever built.
